: Help straighten me out...thinking about another V

Short story: I had an 05 V with lots of problems. GM took care of me and repurchased the car. To their credit - I am still a customer for life.

Compared to my previous GM LSX powered rides:

01 C5
02 C5 Z06
04 GTO

The V had terrible drivetrain refinement - whiney diff(s), rear seemingly attached with rubber bands, vibrating transmission at HWY speed, clunky driveshaft.

Did GM step it up a few notches and correct this in the 06-07?

Has anyone owned both and speak first hand ?

Buy a used one. Put in the new Kars rear diff. Do lots of engine mods. Keep or trade. Get an 09 when that drops. End of story, welcome back.

Although we have some main idea, we have not seen an 09 V fully unmasked yet so don't know for sure what it will finally look like.

Even folks who had "lots of problems" still come back.

Interesting.

Why do you need to be set straight. Buy a used V, drive the crap outta it until the '09s come out.

How can you go wrong?

The 05 was VERY frustrating - don't want to repeat the same scenario.

Thinking about just getting an 08 C6...

Let me try,you had a bad one. What makes you think your next one will be any different.Well theres people like me with an 04 and a maggie on for 30,000 miles with a stock quiet diff, with no vibrations and basically no serious bitches of any kind. All cars have some quirks, get a used V and enjoy again!

The V and the Vette are in the same price range. You owned a Vette. If you do not need the back seat, why not go with Vette?

Fewer problems.

Back seat is not a must as I have another DD.
thanks for the comments.

Can anyone comment on 04-05 v 06-07? My plan was certainly to get one used. The lease deals on the 07s have gone down the drain since the residual is lousy. $28,500 residual after 24 months.
