Not a newb to the CTS, but to the V...Ill be moving up to a V in the next month or so.

What are the basic mods that all V's need?

Right now, heres my list of mods right away.

- Volant
- cut-outs
- Tune (does StealthV still tune?)
- any other needed first mods?

I also want to do brakes and suspension...
Will the Eibach springs work fine with the FG2's? Spring rates similar enough?

UUC shifter and solid bushings, Stealth V tune and a Catback makes it a different car.

After a few months with that, you'll need more so you'll get headers, a flywheel, etc, etc.... Welcome to mod hell.

Where will I get the solid bushings?

I remember reading something about a CAGS skip-shift? Where do I get this, also?

I was also thinking about Type-V badges on all windows? Think it'll look tight? And a lambo trunk...

Bushings from Lindsay Cadillac.

StealthV tune will take care of CAGS for you.

I agree with everything thus far - but I'd skip the Volant.

If you don't like the loud exhausts, gut the stock mufflers and go with some RT hi-flow cats. If that's not enough, add the cutouts (now you have two great exhausts - and one is still quiet enough for long trips).

The very FIRST think I would do is the shifter. Also swap the diff fluid with something good.

Of course, maggie/heads/cam/slugs/rods/etc. will be in your future - but you know that already - don't you?

The first two things to do is to get:

1a. a tune
1b. UUC/B&M shifter.

As far as the tune goes, check and see if a dyno tune is available in your area. That is definitely your best option. If one is not available, then go with the Stealth tune.

With a tune, dyno or Stealth, a CAGS is not needed, as it's a very easy option to just turn off.

Other potential mods include:

--exhaust (Zoomers, Corsa, B&B, Magnaflow, or Borla). Do NOT expect a significant increase in hp though

--headers

--CTS armrest. The CTS-V armrest is lame and lacks storage area. This is one of my fav mods

--Supercharger/Maggie.

--pedals

--Hotchkiss sway bars

--FG2 shocks

--Coil-over springs, in the alternative to above

--Anti wheel-hop kit (KARS III, the DIY $17 solution, etc.)

--Heads/cam (depending on where you live)

--Upgraded Differential

--ipod upgrade

--Tinted windows

Note that I did NOT include a CAI. I have yet to see a good one. I have a Volant right now and get my money back if I could. I don't believe CAIs are worth much at all, especially for the cost.

Hope that helps

--Anti wheel-hop kit ... the DIY $17 solution ...Did I miss this one??? Please elaborate or point me in the right direction. :worship:

Luna, clean up your Volant and eBay it. I still had original box, etc., took a couple of pics, and got nearly 75% of my bucks back.

BTW, sorry for slight threadjack.

See the sticky thread at the top of the forum for the DIY $17 solution. :)

Good idea on the Volant. I just might do that!

I'm a real newb who just picked my V up last Wed. Thanks to all of the great advice on what makes a difference on our cars, ordered from Luke@Lindsay:

UUC shifter
Corsa exhaust
Drilled rotors (since need new ones and could find just slotted)
Sport spoiler (i now it does make any diff but liked the visual diff)
