View Full Version : Summertime - Back to work on my 70 Eldo

After a winter of hibernation, I've finally gotten a chance to pull the Eldorado out of the garage and get back to work. At the moment, I'm rebuilding the carb and have a handful of related parts that are either missing, broken or cobbled beyond repair that I'm having a hard time finding replacements for:

choke pull off
throttle dash pot
transmission downshift switch

I've found several choke pull off's for the 71' Eldorado, but I don't know if they are interchangeable. I have found zero dash pots or the downshift switch. Both attach and operate with the throttle linkage on the carb. Both are currently disconnected on my car (and bent, and missing pieces, and cut wires...).

I've lurked around eBay, online salvage yards and a few parts places that I'm familiar with, but have come up empty so far. Anyone have a good resource they'd like to share?

Thanks,

Brandon

Take a look here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cadillac-Eldorado-71-78-Transmission-Downshift-Switch_W0QQitemZ290121335725QQihZ019QQcategoryZ100 76QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Not sure if this will work on your 70, but I have seen these reasonable often.

I know you can also get the kickdown from GMPartsDirect.com, but that only works if you get the part number from somewhere. I know I have it around, but could not find it after searching for a bit.

Thanks for the info! I'll ask around with some of my other Caddy buddies. It's amazing how much I know about this car and how I still know very little.
