unfortunately i am not an escalade owner, though i have been wanting one for years. everyday on my way to work i pass by a few used car dealerships and i noticed this morning that one of them had a hunter green ext out front, i'm not sure of the year, possibly an '03-'04 but when i saw it, well first off i nearly caused an accident looking at it but secondly my heart kinda sank a bit 'cause i know i can't afford a truck like that, at least not right now and definately not with the job i have. i found this site earlier today so i just had to ask, what kind of job do i need to have to get myself into one of those? if you don't mind, can you give me an example or two? i thought i was doing well enough to check out the dealership in the mall a few weeks back. i told them that i was interested in the cobalt they had at the time and they told me that i'd need at least $5,000 down with at least $500 monthly payments. i can do the payments but the down payment? thats a bit high isn't it? especially for a cobalt. i'd have been better off buying used. i need to get myself something 'cause i doubt my lil '92 escort will last much longer! i've been to the local cadillac dealership but i never go in because i'm afraid they'll laugh me right out of there. i must say though, the '07's are niiiiice ^_^ but anyway, i can see that i've rambled on so any advice will be much appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to the Forum. It says you are 22 years old, I could not afford an Escalade at 22 years old either, but after 20 years of working I have several homes, and some nice cars, just give it some time and work hard, nothing is easy, unless you win the lottery. :)

Im 24, and I have 2 Escalades right now. :) One of them is paid off, the other i'm still making payments on. I'm also married, so my wife and I have two income that can easily make the payments.

I started working at the age of 14 working for my family janitor business. My parents been keeping most of my money at the time til I turned 18 and handed it over to me after high school graduation. That was nice i'll tell you that.

Anyways, I have a buddy who is 21 and he is working two jobs, both fast food joints. He has a 2006 Audi A6 that he can afford the monthly payments just fine right now.

So it really all depends. If you are in debt with credit cards, and have a spending too much money habit, or go to bars every weekend, then you might not be able to afford it.

BUT, if you are not in debt and do the less partying, and just work a lot on weekends, etc, then you will be just fine.

Partying is one of my problems for a while, because my wife and I will be at the bars with friends and spend an easily $100 a night on food and drinks. So be careful on that part.

Good luck and I hope you can get it soon.

wow you have 2 escalades? sweet!!

right now i'm stuck working at a fast food joint. it's about the only place to find work around here though let me tell you. i've been thinking about taking up a second job just so i can get a new vehicle but the last thing i want is to end up at another fast food place. many of the other places i've applied to have yet to call back so that really bites but right now i don't think i'm doing too bad. i'm making nearly $900 a month right now with none of that going to anything but fixing my car, car insurance, and gas so i know i can afford the monthly payments but all i can wonder is what kind of down payments am i looking at here? the $5,000 for the cobalt nearly blew me away, especially since it was just a cobalt, if it had been an escalade it probably would have made more sense. i guess it just depends on the credit but i have no clue what my score is right now. but i may just wander to a few dealerships this weekend just to see what they give me for numbers. afterall, i'll never know if i can afford one unless i ask, right? i know there's another caddy sitting in the next town over, it's been there for a loooong time though. it's a nice maroon color but when i called them about it they told me it was an '06 but it sure doesn't look it :P

Remember my friend, they need you more than you need them. Work hard, and you'll get what your heart desires.
