Heres the deal. I have a 1995 Seville STS that had a BOSE factory stereo. The Deck stopped working so I decided to put in a new system. I made the mistake of chopping off all the wires on the plug for the deck and chopping off the wires on the bose computer thingy by the power antenna in the trunk. I got my new stereo all hooked up and it was great. I bypassed the bose amps and used the original speakers. But night time came and now I realize I don't have any parking lights on the driver side and the Dash lights do not work at all. I checked all my wiring. I even put all the plugs back on that I chopped off and hooked them back up but the lights still do not work... I beleive I could have fried the dimmer switch but how do I check to see if I fried it and why does only the left side parking lights not work? DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? please help.

Thanks,

Scott

Any blown fuses?

This is just a wild guess. Actually it will probably just make you feel worse. I don't have a good idea what is wrong, or how to fix it.

But, I recently got a Service Manual for 1997 Cadillac and have been reading it. There is something called a Serial Data Line which runs to various (many) components in the car. This is not just a 'wire', it is a computer data line. And, I think it might 'run in a big circle' from the 'computers' to various points. Or, there might be multiple 'circles'.

Anyway, I would think this is a 'wire' that you cannot just 'chop off'. And you may not be able to easily re-connect it. The electrical system in these cars, and maybe a lot of other later model cars, is nothing like previous ones. And they are not anything to be modifying, unless you have some exact knowledge.

Can you get the car into Diagnotist Mode and see what, if any, error codes are set? There are codes for Serial Port errors.

There isn't any blown fuses and there is no SPM errors. I already checked the diagnostic for errors. I believe I may have inadvertantly fried the dimmer module by putting 12 volts to it. But that still doesn't account for why the driver side parking lights do not work. As for the plugs I believe the set I cut is just for the bose system. Not for sure though i guess.... Anybody have any ideas?

thanks,

Scotty
