Ok, whats the best way for me to get fair market value?

Should I list it on E-bay with a reserve? Or should I list it in AutoTrader.com with my asking price?

What do you guys think is a fair market value for a car with 27k miles on it?

Why am I selling my car? I need a stick shift and something nimble for the backroads. Cruising the BLVD is fun, but I need some cornering power.

I haven't decided what to get, but I will be visiting the Infiniti, Mercedes, BMW and Audi dealers. I need a manual transmission, decent power, handling and aftermarket support.

Well, we've gotten offers for 13-15k on our completely stock burg/burg/burg brougham... I dont know if the mods youve done will help or hurt....

Id say 14k as it is right now. Id throw on the stock rims and maybe try and get something out of those....

As far as how to sell it, I dont think I would ebay it because people on ebay are looking for good cars cheap..

I would advertise it here and word of mouth will get out....

What is the blue book value for it???

I have all the stock parts still. So the prospective buyer can decide what he wants.

But I could take those off and sell them seperate.

Once I figure out how much to sell it for, I think I will use your advice on the word of mouth. It would be better that it end up in an enthusiasts hands.

As far as a few suggestions when youre out and about (and presuming you purchase something new or slightly used).

Cadillac: CTS Getting stickshift with the 3.6L engine later this year for MY05.

BMW: Z4 3.0 or 330i (or 530i if you need the size).

Honda: S2000

Mercedes: Getting all new SLK this year, looks like a baby SL, really really nice, and theres a V8 version for the AMG as well.

Infiniti: Of course... G35 coupe.

Mazda: RX8

Those are a few twisty roads cars that come to mind, though I really have no clue what size of car you were wanting.

Your list points out a market segment not served.

The only way to get a V8 manual sedan is to go up market (or move to Australia).

Only the G35 excites me on your list. The C-Class sedan comes with a manual though.

Well let me just say that I got my car through Autotrader.com I'm from south tex and I flew to Iowa, then drove it back. My car has 83K and I've been offered 14 G's.

However I would choose Autotrader over E-bay anyday. I see Cadi's on E-Bay sell cheap when they could've been sold for much more.

What about the GTO with the 6-Speed? Few others do come to mind as you mentioned

HRS is SELLING?!?!?!?

I just got that feeling in the pit of my stomach, like when the hottest girl in school winks at you, and you think to yourself--SHE COULD BE MINE!!!

I may be interested, HRS. But $14K is out of my range for that particular car, modded or not. I know after my test-drive I said I wasn't going to get one, but I haven't seen anything I like as well. Yours is special. How far from Memphis are you?

I don't like the styling, but I will look at it.

The upcoming Mustang looks good though.

Cars, that I might consider:
Used Boxster
Used BMW M Coupe

New Audi A4
New MB C-Class
New BMW 3 series
New CTS
New Miata Mazdaspeed

But what I hate about new cars is the BIG hit in value you take.

Maybe I should move to Australia. ;-)

You live in Memphis and you don't know where Thunder Road is located? You better go rent the movie. ;)

KBB says it's a $10,000 car. The weird part, is the price doesn't change if I use the 14K miles it had when I purchased it or the 27K miles I have now.

BTW, it booked at $13,000 when I bought it. So overall, it wasn't a bad depreciation 'hit'.

why not a screwbaru ? Im rather partial to the wrx , and i remeber there is alot fo gravel roads up there , but im sick i want the wrx wagon with a sunroof (i like to be diffrent)

i looked at a SRT-4 Neon last week , 20k and a hell of a bang for the buck , sad part is the tires are only good for like 15,000 miles , very soft compund bf goodrich tires , damn thing should stick like glue , these things are too small for me tho

but i still get chills thinkin about that 2001 camaro ss 6 speed i drove ....dont know if i ever shake that feeling

A WRX Sti Wagon would be ideal.

Another marketing blunder for us yanks.

Hey HRS,

Just listed my 4-Runner in the Knoxville Sentinal for 14 days for $26.75. Ebay wants $40 and local town paper wants $20 for one week, so I thought I would try the Knoxville Paper first. Sorry to hear she has to go, but I wish you luck and bucks in selling her.

Sounds like you need an Audi TT coupe!! That's one of my fav cars around.
http://www.badtoys.de/images/audi/audi_tt.jpg
225 hp Turbo 4 6-speed AWD or the 250 hp V6 with DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) sports tranny AWD. Go for the Turbo 4 since it's way under-rated and got a huge aftermarket for it.

I think youll like the G35 with the 6spd..... Coupe that is, very solid car and a rocket!!!!

ID definitelly pay 14k for your car, EASY. Unfortuntealy that is worth the same as 2 pristine 94 Q45s!! :)

you-a suck-a

Oh well thats one on me. I deserve we got our boss GOOD today, were only a team of 5 tech support analysts for a center of 600 people, and we successfully made him think no one came in today, the guy was practically in tears since he was off-site and had only the panicked calls of an administrative assistant for info... it was great. Hes really a great guy too.

You offered some good choices!

If I replace this car, it would be with a 'used' CTS-V.

But I'm thinking maybe a second car might be a better option. I'm leaning towards a BMW M-coupe. Low production and good performance.

Me too with the bimmer, I like the CTS-V alot but id have to wait for depreciation to hit so I could afford one. That, or CALL ME CRAZY, but im starting to warm up to that RT10 Dodge RAM, i know i know... its dumb but its growing on me.

Those would be if I dont go the other way and just get an older like 90 or so Benz SL or something. I just like too many categories of cars.

SRT-10, now you're talkin'! I don't think it's "dumb" when you got that kind of power and you'll get noticed in it more than any German car IMO!

Strange to me that they don't offer the V10 in the new Durangos? Didn't Dodge have an RT Durango a couple of years ago? (I know, not with the V10) Oh well, I was impressed with the hemi in it nonetheless. :p

You should work for Chrysler!

How about a V10 300C?!

If they made one, would you consider it a replacement over a CTS-V?

For our next vehicle, my fiance wants a Liberty, but I am still impressed by the Hemi Durango testdrive we took. Perhaps an RT version will emerge in the future.
