: Question about varying coolant temp

05-05-07, 12:31 AM
I was driving on the highway and the digital dash said the coolant temp is at 201 degrees, it is usually 191~199. I floored the car then backed off and the coolant temp went back to 196. Does this mean anything or is it just coolant getting more circulation?

btw I had a post about how my engine dies in moist weather until the engine warms up, I cleaned the EGR valve and the problem went away :cookoo:

Not a problem Weister. That's normal. Higher RPM means higher water pump RPM , thus higher flow rate and more cooling. Unless you have a bad head gasket, then the temps will likely rise.

As ranger said, completely normal, when you start getting up to 220 225 worry about it then.
