View Full Version : Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift....my thoughts Day off after call is cold and rainy, so I'm being a bum and vegging out in front of the TV today. The HBO movie of the day was F&F TD.
Growing up a SE Arkansas boy I did all my racing in a straight line. So it goes without saying that I don't get the "drifting" thing. I haven't been able to develop the appreciation for all the big aluminum wings, body kits, and glowing neon on 4 cylinder cars. I also HATE the sound most of these cars make.
The movie was cheesy, had a thin plot, and completely lost me when they put a Nissan motor into a classic Ford Mustang. :thepan: It didn't even help that they ended the piece with American muscle V8. The recipe/script seemed pretty much the same as the first. I'm very glad I didn't waste my money seeing this flick in a theatre. Now, can I get those 2 hours back....PLEASE?! Jonas McFeely 04-26-07, 03:42 PM Havnt seen it,but the first two were two of the worst movies ive ever seen.Horrible acting, horrible plots, and everything was rediculously unrealistic. No one carries around $30,000 dollars in hundreds rolled up with a rubber band and says "wanna race?". WTF were they thinking. And that asian chick in second one looks like a worm, like the thing from Tremors. WTF,so not hot.
K im done. Blackout 04-26-07, 03:46 PM I bought F&F TD for HD-DVD. I was waiting in line at Circuit City and they had it playing on the screen in HD-DVD and it looked so damn nice that I just had to buy it! But I agree the point of the movie was stupid but at the sametime there were some nice cars. I bought F&F TD for HD-DVD.
Same here. I thought the director's commentary was actually pretty interesting, he tells you lots of little things you never would have known before. Blackout 04-26-07, 04:25 PM That's the one thing I love about HD-DVD the extra features and the U-Control is one of the best features ever. I love the U-Control setup for Smokin' Aces. At random points in the movie you click it on and it shows you where everybody is currently at and how many kills they have and all sorts of other stuff. I LOVE IT!! I bought F&F TD for HD-DVD. Same here. I thought the director's commentary was actually pretty interesting, he tells you lots of little things you never would have known before.Well, if you're better for it then........... I guess it's OK..... Haha, yea, I'll see if I can't stay away from it. ShadowLvr400 04-27-07, 12:10 AM I saw it recently as well, and thought it was overall pretty damned retarded. However, I've been looking at drifting competitions more and more, and I must admit, I'm finally starting to see some of the appeal. Like most other motorsports, it's about finding the limits of what your vehicle can do. However, it's also about going past those limits, and still controlling it. The recent competioons here in the states have shown that the V8 pony and muscle cars can do it well too though, it's not just the japanese imports.
On the Nissan motor in the Gen 1 Mustang, special breed of stupid, but what can you do? The JZ and RB22DET motors are like the SBC is for GM. Everyone wants one, and it's one of their best motors for modifying. Sinister Angel 04-27-07, 02:57 PM A nissan motor in a f'cking mustang?!?!:alchi: :alchi: :alchi: :alchi: :alchi: :alchi: :alchi: Blackout 04-27-07, 03:27 PM A nissan motor in a f'cking mustang?!?!:alchi: :alchi: :alchi: :alchi: :alchi: :alchi: :alchi:horsepower is horsepower whether it's from a Kia or a Ferrari. Hell with doing the swap it probably made the handling of the car better as well. Imagine doing a RB26DETT engine swap and then bringing it over to like Top Secret or HKS or Blitz and letting them mod it up to a 1000 hp. Talk about a one of a kind! I agree, I thought that Mustang was great and seeing a modern turbo I6 under the hood is cool as hell. Would it have been a better car with a carb'd 289? or a 200 ci factory inline 6? I dont think so. A modded DOHC Cobra motor or twin turbo Ford GT motor would have been cool as hell though. Besides all that, the movie sucked as did its predecessors. Going into it, I knew it was gonna suck but I watched it anyway so that makes me part of the reason a 4rth one will probably be made. I'm sorry. Sinister Angel 04-28-07, 01:26 PM Torque... ShadowLvr400 04-28-07, 01:32 PM However the terrible engine sound, and the idiotic fart canister poking out the back of a classic Mustang hurt too. | |
