If it is on your 96, it is likely not the gasket. The factory gasket is steel, and doesn't burn out. You likely have a loose, missing, or broken manifold bolt. Or, your manifold is cracked. All four of these symptoms are VERY common on LT1s. First step: when the engine is cold, feel the bolts to check for all of them. There are six per side. Next, check to make sure all are tight. If one is missing, you need to figure out if it fell out, or (worse) if the bolt broke off in the head. If so, the manifold has to come off. If you are lucky, there will be a bit of the bolt sticking out that you can grab with vise grips. If you are unlucky, the bolt is broken inside the head, and you will have to drill and extract or weld up a nut to get it out.
