CAROLINA PERFORMANCE TRANSMISSIONS
Look it up on Google and go from there.
There is NOTHING not known about the 4L60E down there.
Having one of their Stage II units in my 1995 FWB, I can't praise them enough.
Shane Cobb occasionally posts here but is more frequently on the ImpalaSS forums.
He can answer virtually ANY question about the transmission(s).
That was a PCM tune fix. See your dealer. Expect around a est time of 1 hour, but in reality will take them about 5-10 min to "fix" as they flash in new PCM program.
Honestly, money better spent on a pro tune like BH tune.
Basically all they did was recal some of the shift tables to keep it from doing it. It isn't really a trans PROBLEM as so much a PCM setting that allows it to upshift right away if the throttle is released. It is a pretty easy fix. I have it setup nicely with 3.42's where no clunk is ever heard/felt.

I have that same clunk on my 96 FWB but I dont have a service engine light on. Just tell the dealer about the noise or should I run a diagnostics and see if I get the code TSB 133220? I don't want to pay them for nothing?
