Some of you may remember of me complaining about a small harmonic type vibration in my car. We discussed the rear HVAC system and such.

Well now since my new transmission job I have this harmonic vibration when the car is running, even at idle. It's small but I can feel it in the steering wheel and the shifter knob.

This vibration continues throughout the RPM range. This is not the high RPM vibration that I previously mentioned, I believe the new trans fixed that problem, thought to be movement of the final drive assembly.

So I'm wondering what this new vibration can be. It's kind of a pain especially while driving fast because it fells like there's something wrong and I'm afraid to rev the car.

I am not a transmission mechanic but it sounds like someone knocked the balancing wieght off or didnt put a new one on the torque converter. Torque converters are balanced and if you put a new one on you sometimes have to weld a small piece of wieght to converter at a specfic spot the factory manual tells you to. OR your using the old torque converter and in the process of uninstalling or reinstalling, you knocked it off. It is diffintely your torqueconverter.

Hmm interesting. The TC was a rebuilt as far as I know so I can't comment on weather or not it had a weight on it. Or if the weight is or isn't in the right place.

I'll have to ask about that because the trans guy even commented on the vibration.

So I called my guy and he says there's no way that the TC is the problem. It is a rebuilt TC from a source that he's used for years. He claims, no way. Any other ideas? I'm bringing the car back to him next Wed to take a closer look.

I will. Thanks. This was supposed to go back to the trans guy this week but I haven't had the time. I did the front mount about 10k miles ago. If it's broken again I'm not going to be happy.
