Hi,

I have a 2000 base Deville. I have replaced front brake pads 3 times in the past year, front rotors once, and rear pads once, mainly because I drive like an a$$hole. No matter what though, I always hear noise coming from the front rotors, like a squeaking, then a small bumping when I hit 70 or so MPH on the intersatate. I always do my own brake jobs, or else Id be broke by now. Money being no issue, if I were to go get the best rotors and the best brake pads all around, what do I need to look for. If you can give me links to the suppliers, that would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks

Are you using metallic or ceramic pads? Metallic pads will be noisey even if they aren't worn. If you aren't running them i would suggest switching to ceramic. As far as rotors, brembo makes a good oe replacement rotor. You may want to consider get drilled or slotted rotors since you are hard on the brakes, and the deville is a two ton car, the cooler you you keep the rotors the less chance they will warp. Tirerack.com is where i order all my brakes and tires. They will show you products specifically for your car and show you what you can upgrade. As far as the caliper noise, you are remembering to lubricate the cailipers right?

I had a little shudder from my brakes once when I let the dealership change the brakes once a long time ago. Never again. I replaced them myself and found out that one of the pads was in crooked and had worn real bad on one side and not bad on the other side of the same pad. After I replaced them, no problems. But I do usually have to do my pads about 2 times a year and I'm not even that hard one the brakes. Heavy car thats all. I replaced the rotors each time too. First time because the rotors were old, second time because the machine shop messed up the resurfacing.
