from NYIRP in Leicester, NY

Temps hovered around 80 all afternoon

Ran several 15.8's and got frustrated...had a bog off the line...went and put more gas in the car...came back and ran consistent 15.3x's...and the golden ticket...the fastest pass i had out of 20 today (YES 20) was this:

RT: .704
60' - 2.352
330' - 6.528
1/8 mile - 9.921 @ 73.24mph
1000' - 12.776
1/4 mile - 15.174 @ 93.66 mph!!!!!!

I never did get the mufflers lopped off, so i ran the ccar with these mods:

Modified airbox
gutted cat
no resonator

that's it...and damn am i impressed for a base model deville with the torque tuned N*

now onto more mods!

We have a 1000 ft track here in AR, If you ever watch the new pipes show on espn its where they run. My car is a 95 deville with a N*.

temp around 70

RT: .687
60' - 2.255
330' - 6.321
1/8 mile - 9.501 @ 77.54mph
1000' - 12.18@88.2

I have magnaflow mufflers, k&n filter, and royal purple throughout the car.

i also had a run of 12.5 with me and my friend that weighs about 270

I raced an 03 mustang gt that ran 11.7 but crossed the line at 87 so I was actually catching him at the end, my car is terrible off the line. Can anybody give me an estimate on my 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for my car

your deville must be making alot better power than mine...but yours is also OBDI versus my 97's OBDII...

i'd estimate you to be mid/low 14's - like 14.3ish since you have me by six tenths at 1,000ft and a solid 4+ mph

that is frickin scootin for a deville...

ok folks...here's where i sit with the car

leaving for the dragstrip with these mods:

modified stock airbox
heatshielded airbox
will be running no filer at the track ONLY - (K&N in coming weeks for daily use)
no cat
no resonator
no muffler
TCS Defeated

will report back with times later tonight
hoping for a 14 second pass...even if it is 14.999 i don't care!

Results are in...best of 16 or 17 passes (i get my 13 dollars worth!)

14.76 at 95mph!!!

i beat a 5.0 with a cam and other mods, a turbo civic, turbo beetle, countless N/A imports, and even got compliments from the camaro crowd and from a guy running a small buick with a built 455!

oh...and the car with about 1/2 tank of gas weighs 3950 without me in it...the scales were working today!

i am SO STOKED!!!!!!! must mod more...more mods mods mods mods....

oh and since i havent had it to the dyno yet i used 2 seperate methods of obtaining HP at the ground...via ET and also trap speed
Using the ET method, I come up with 255 horsepower
Using the Speed method, I come up with 278 horsepower

im thinking it's closer to 255 than anything...but i doubt even that...would love to find a dyno close and some spare time...

Congratulations. Glad to see all that work paid off. Is this with your stock exhaust crossover still, or your new version?

"No cat, resonator or muffler"? Is this your daily driver?

That sucker must be loud, not to mention , I know the check engine light is on. But with stock diameter pipes, and those items removed, sounds like a good balance of flow and back pressure for that N*. I had a problem with a high flow cat and 3" diameter pipes, lost low end torque...Im putting on the stock cat to go with the larger pipes for some back pressure.

With that kind of volume, watch out for the cops, if they care about that where you live. If they peek under and see no catalytic converter, you could be in for a hefty fine (felony). And it doesn't matter if your area does emissions testing -- removing a catalytic converter is a federal offense. I'm not making a judgement on whether that's good or bad, just saying that's the law.

Fubar- how did your 60' and 330' change? That would tell us if you lost any low end like everybody's always screaming ;)

GOOD QUESTION eldo1. In my case, if you read the description of my set up, I can guarantee a slight loss of low end....but I was a bit extreme.

from the 15.174 run

60' - 2.352
330' - 6.528

from the new run after eliminating mufflers and heatshielding airbox, no tc, and a bit more opening of stock airbox:

60' - 2.271
330' - 6.322

i actually cut a 2.223 60ft earlier that evening...meaning i gained a full tenth in the 60' and 2 tenths in the 330'....

it looks like i gained some low end eh?

oh...and i decided for now...since i need to pull the radiator and some other stuff to access the front 2 manifold-to-crossover pipe bolts...i am doing a new catback first before i do the rest of the exhaust...i am coming right off the back of the hollowed stock cat into a custom 3" to dual 2.5" Y and going dual 2.5" from there out the back...

when i do the rest of the exhaust (eliminate crossover, etc...) i can tie it right into the new catback by cutting off the Y and patching it in...

cant wait till the catback is done...will be finished up tomorrow!

Very nice. 1/10th off your 60' is huge...

How did you defeat your tcs? What was your 1/8 mile and 1000 foot time and speed?

(4) - 1,000 ohm resistors...onein each wheel speed sensor connector and taped up...

not recommended for anything above a base model car...magnasteer and stabilitrak would surely be tweaking out...

Actually its not as horrible as it sounds on Cat removal. basicly its the "shop" fine (here in Indiana its $2500) but for the most part it gets you a trip to smog test h@ll till it passes.
for the most part its just a ticket that after a certain period of time can become revoked registration.
Aslong as it looks like old work most never know and as for the noise if he simply states it rusted off/fell off and he had to trim pipe to get it to run then most cops will give him a pass ,,once or twice.
AS for the numbers you figured.
It goes this way without a stall converter the lower number is mostlikely real close to your wheel hp
And the speed time is flywheel hp .
The equations take up 4 leagl pad pages so I am not going to post them.
Here is anothertrick if you trust your trans. Make up a switch and lock your converter after each shift and see what happens ,do not lock it completely just push button after each shift.
Good luck

I wonder how a Seville would run?......... Did you reduce the use of the serpentine belt? ( By pass air?)

Hey mountie...I have a 2001 sts with a smog(air pump) and the serpentine is on it of course, if I bypass it, with a shorter serpintine, would I get more HP, and what would it do to the car (check engine, run lean, etc any harm) Thanks.

If you want to save a few 10th's with a street car, on the 1/4 mile, talk with guys at the track that may have already tried it. See if it's worth the trouble.

Not all serpentine belts work with a component removed..... You may have to install a dummy pully in it's place.

But for street driving, I wouldn't change that stuff.
