View Full Version : The last Oldsmobile Bravada - "Should I" ??? With only the Bravada Sport Ute, the Silhouette MiniVan and the Alero Compact in production at the year's start, 87 days ago, the Bravada ended production in late January. The Silhouette goes next, ending in late March (probably today or tomorrow), and the Alero ends in June. The division folds in August.
That said, I have a unique opportunity. I have available to me one of the "FINAL 500" edition Bravadas. Only 500 were made and spread out all over the USA. I have located the LAST one ... the FINAL FINAL 500 Bravada. But....... what makes this car so unusual is that it's one of 50 of the Five Hundred, to have every possible concievable option on it.

Thoughts ????
With Tax (6%) Doc Fee, Title, Registration, Plates it will be $43,954.60. Vesicant 03-29-04, 08:07 PM Yep, thats fairly unique... great "souvenir". and if your worried about parts coverage... it was said that GM will support it through their dealers n such... the Bravada is just a Trailblazer with different skin.
Also, the price... is what you'd pay for a top end TrailBlazer or equivilent.
If your willing to pay that price, your good... plus its unique so thats also something to keep in mind. Stoneage_Caddy 03-30-04, 11:40 AM thar ruby red type color is pretty cool too , i wanted a final 500 4.0 aurora in the worst way , but alas i dont have the cash flow for it JJhomer83 03-30-04, 12:30 PM Go for it sandy i would do it if i had any money to spend but i don't even have enough this week to drive my car i have to take my motorcycle to work to save gas money Playdrv4me 03-30-04, 12:55 PM With only the Bravada Sport Ute, the Silhouette MiniVan and the Alero Compact in production at the year's start, 87 days ago, the Bravada ended production in late January. Im not sure how much the V8 TrailBlazer is, but as long as its not too much over the price of that, I would say go for it. Now I have to admit its pretty easy to see right through the marketing of this Final 500 thing (as well as the "Eldorado Collectors Series") as a way to push the last few cars more quickly, BUT if this is indeed the LAST LAST one as you said, then that in itself is very cool regardless of this "final 500" thing. The V-8 Trailblazer is the 7 passenger model & is x-tended. We don't want a big one, just a 4 passenger will do good. The Bravada compares to the Trairblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier (with the 6 Cyl.) and the Isuzu Ascender. They are all identical. The Bravada and the Rainer do NOT offer an extended 7-passenger model as well as the 4(5) passenger shorter length model. The Ascender , Envoy & Trailblazer have the looonger model as well. The Ascender is finished off inside the most luxurious, the Rainer & Bravada are equal while the GMC & Trailblazer are at the bottom.
She has a Cherokee Limited now (2001) and we were definately NOT looking to replace it. It's perfect & has just 6,500 miles on it. But, this here car came along and .....
What got me the most, was the fact that the dealer ordered every single item on it, and that it's the final one made! I cannot afford to buy it. We own the Jeep outright. In order to get the Bravada I'd sell the Jeep for $15,000 and use the $15,000 to make LEASE payments on the Bravada of the $465.00 a month. This would give me the 36 months of payments. Somehow, I don't think it's prudent to turn the Cherokee Limited in $$ and pay for something that I'll never own, with THAT money. In 3 years, no Bravada AND the proceeds from the Jeep are gone, too.
But..... I kinda want it. Ya all know how THAT goes.... :bouncy: :banghead: Playdrv4me 03-30-04, 08:42 PM The V-8 Trailblazer is the 7 passenger model & is x-tended. I would take the Cherokee Limited over the Bravada anyday, not because the Bravada isnt loads more livable and modern, but just because 2k1 was the last year for the XJ Cherokee Limited and that is one of the best SUVs of all time hands down, I mean, its one of the originals. The only thing is id want one of the 60th Anniversary ones. No you wouldn't !
The 60th Anniversary one was based upon a Cherokee SPORT, and as such it was impossible to get leather seats, heated seats, power seats, infinty stereo with power amp & 8 speakers, 16" wheel & tire Pkg., Overhead convenience console, trip computer, digital compass, Wood Dash Trim, or heated exterior mirrors, all of which ours has. The 60th Anniversary one was a SPORT, wearing the Limited's color keyed bumpers & bodyside mouldings, with unique wheels, period. It was only $140.00 over the price of a Sport. Ours listed for $28,130 and has EVERYTHING that was offered. I was gonna add the fender emblems to it (60TH ANNIVERSARY) and the wife said,. "Why cheapen it?" :rant2: Here is a picture of it:-

Hmm... I concur. inmycadillac 03-30-04, 11:54 PM I'd just keep the Jeep. Why waste 15,000$ for something that you can only have for 3 years. 465$x36=16,740$. Thats over 5,000$ a year and then you have to give it back!!! Never. I know its unique but if anything just get a loan and buy it outright instead of throwing $$$$$$ away for a few months of enjoyment. After the initial excitement it won't be any different than driving that beautiful Jeep. JMO. Let us know.:) | |
