Hi All,
I found this websight by surfing for Cadilliac information. I find this websight to be very informative and the people very friendly. I own a Dark Blue 99 STS with 50K, Its had its share of problems :madtalkin , but I have to say I love the car its a blast to drive and the Bose sound system kicks :) . I also own a Dark Green 68 GTO body off restoration and White 72 Charger SE, I 've owned the Mopar since brand new drove it off the showroom floor in 72. I'm getting spring fever just taking about the classics it's been a long cold winter here in Michigan. I would like to hear about your other classics if you own any. I love the Muscle cars my favorites are the GMs & Mopars. I work at GM in the engine controls department. I may be able to help some of you in the future with your check engine lights.
Take Care, ;)

Hey Frank, welcome to the board. Great bunch of people here with bushels of knowledge about our passion. I owned a 1968 GTO, yellow w/ black vinyl top, 400, automatic. Loved that car and wish I had had the foresight to park it when it was time for another car and could bring it out today for a drive on this beautiful spring day. It was a monster!! Good to have you and look forward to a new GM guy here to help.........Tom

Welcome aboard, Frank. And thank you for signing up! It's always great to find new automobile enthusiasts - especially when they own a Cadillac. :) Spread the word about our site, okay? :)

Muscle Cars?!?! Sadly, I have none now.:( Oh, If I knew then what I know now. :nono: My first car was a 71 Mustang FastBack, Followed by a 74 LeMans, next came a 72 LeMans Sport Coupe and a 69 Nova Super Sport. I still had the LeMans Sport Coupe in 92, but my X badgered me into selling it. :gun2: Should have kept the car and gotten rid of her then! :rant2: Anyway, great to have you here! Let us know what help your willing to offer as far as the "check engine" codes go. Myself, I have the E39 Torque convertor code going on and am hopeing to find a solution short of tranny rebuild. Any thoughts?
Thanks and :welcome: again,
Tim

Tim,
I am mostly familure with the engine controls. But I found out the P039 is a trans slippage code, The PCM Compares engine speed vs trans output speed (vss) if engine speed is in excess for a particular speed this dtc sets. Make sure you check all circuits to the TCC solenoid for opens, shorts, high resistance, check the resistance of the solenoid it should be between 20 and 50 ohms. Check for a possible pcm problem before jumping into a trans O.H. Try to locate a O.E shop manual and run through the diagnostics theres 10 pages worth. Wish I could help you pin point the root cause but there are too many possibles.
Take care,
Frank

I appreciate your help. I am going to have to find a shop manual somehow/somewhere.
