Hi.
My husband and I live in Kansas. After driving German cars, he switched to a 2003 CTS. We chose the Cadillac for two reasons: one, we can have it worked on locally (2-hr drive (or tow) to have a German car worked on) and two, the golf clubs fit in the trunk.
The CTS drives well and has some nice options. IMHO it's ugly, but my husband likes the way it looks.
My grandfather always drove Cads, so it was a little hard to get past the "gramps" image Cadillac has.
This is our first Caddy. Don't know yet whether it will be our last. We'd like to see some improvements in the 2005.
This forum is very helpful and lots of fun.

Welcome Kansas!
Thanks for joining the forum. It is very important that the clubs fit! I think more and more people are getting by the "grampa" syndrome and finding that Caddy offers many comfortable choices. I drove an Olds before my caddy and it screamed "retirement community". As much as I would like to retire early I did not want to drive that statement around. With the caddy it is....different! We encourage new members to post a picture or two of their caddy. When you get a chance give it a try!

Morning Kansas, seems to me that Cadillac fits most all the images one might conger up about a fine automobile that has been around for nearly a hundred years. Yes, for some it might be an image of and "old folks" car, but really the rest of the big comfy cars have to live with that call as well, and remember, you can't impress everyone all the time. Today, Cadillac has some of the finest "classic" cars with their elegance of the 1930's, the "big fin" days of the 1950's, and the sweetest convertibles ever built. As most auto-makers have experienced, Cadillac has gone through periods we might want to forget, but for over ten years, Cadillac has been building classy, sporty, fast, and comfy, beautiful cars that compete with any car-maker at any level. They are now building cars that range from compact to luxury to a car that's built on the Corvette platform. The old image of "only old folks drive Cadillac's" is on it's way out. Cadillac is leading the way to a new era in design and technology for the American car and you and your husband are very astute realizing that the day of the euro car is over, we have the great American car back again!

In order to dispell the Grandpa imagine simply step on the gas pedal. I've found it works wonders! :yup: Of course they get the idea that this isn't Gramps car when I blow by them and they see the middle aged driver with the long pony tail! :lildevil: And, with my DeVille Sedan I can not only carry my golf clubs, but also the clubs of 5 of my closest friends. Actually, I could easily go 10 but I can never convince anyone to ride in the trunk with the clubs. :histeric:

:welcome: and have fun here,
Tim

I wouldn't go that far.

We'll trade our '03 CTS next year. We like it ok, but unless they've made some improvements (like adding gauges), we'll go back to German cars (dealership about 2 hrs away) or try a Toyota (local dealership).

We have 2 American SUVs -- a Jeep Grand Wagoneer (no longer made) and a Chevy Suburban -- and I can't say enough good things about them. But the American cars just don't stand up to the Porsches, Mercedes and VWs we've owned.

Id say its a very fine line that only gets finer as the years pass between the Americans and the Euros, I know its a hotly contested topic on this forum but I enjoyed my STS and my Grand Cherokees every bit as much as I do my 01 BMW, and if it hadnt been for the problems and just the poor resale value, the STS would have been my favorite. Cadillac is definitely the leader of the pack on the US side though, with Mercedes IMO the best of the European mainstream, BMW has really faltered lately with this whole Chris Bangle nonsense, and rightly they are bumping him out of the chief design role and replacing him with some guy from Europe.
