Is grounding the spark plug wire to the car still a good way to check for spark coming from the ignition? I am getting 12v to the coil pack.

spark can't jump much more than 0.5"

Only 2 things could be the cause there - crank sensors and ignition module.

Put a spark plug in the wire and ground the base of it. Look for a spark across the plug tip.

Is this no spark no start 100% of the time? You are not able to use at all?

Reason I ask this is sometimes this is an interemittent problem. Intermittent can cause a lot of grief.

Purchase a used ignition module .

Have a parts house check your module two - three times. Usually no fee since they wan to sell you a 500.00 part.

A rare solution could be to clean bolts and bolt holes of mounting bracket for IGN Module and install dielectric grease on back of module. Repair cost is 1.00. But ususally the excess heat and poor grounding has already killed the IGN Module.

REpair cost 1.00 , or 1200.00 , or 1500.00 (honest dealer)

Happy driving it is a very good car very good engine.
