What is this, a spelling bee? A lecture on American pop culture in the fifties??And who cares??? The point of the thread , if you'll recall, is to mention a good standing for the SRX in a comparison test in a widely read national magazine. dkozloski 03-30-07, 08:51 PM Cowabunga! I wouldn't be surprised.................actually, I wasn't a fan of Howdy Doody as much as I was of Chief Thunderthud - how can anyone resist a name like Chief Thunderthud?? Drove an MDX and it had a harder ride, felt clumsy in mild turns, lacked power, was noisy and overall wasn't even in the same league as the SRX.
How can it rank above the SRX? dkozloski 03-30-07, 10:56 PM It's hard to think well of an automotive journalist after he downgrades your vehicle for what you think are irrelevant details. jrose7004 03-30-07, 11:29 PM I'm not surprised that the SRX did that well! I'm not surprised that the SRX did that well!
The SRX seems to always do well in the rankings, but not in sales. It will be interesting to see the March and YTD sales figures next week.
My theories why SRX hasn't done that well in the sales dept:
- Suffering from poor quality reviews from Consumer Reports
- Dislike of the wide door sills and interior design for the first few years
- Initial pricing was publicized as very high
- Many shoppers who will be driving the car (often times women) don't appreciate or like the responsive steering. When shopping for a kid hauler / grocery getter they want something less "twitchy", especially in a tall vehicle where the feeling is amplified. Check out the April issue of Consumers Reports. Even though the SRX still had poor reliability reportings, it is the highest rated midsize AMERICAN brand SUV. Possible the highest with a third row option. Wagoneer 03-31-07, 03:56 PM The May 05 C&D issue has a comparison of 8 $50k luxury utes: the Acura MDX Sport, Caddy SRX V8, BMW X5 3.0si, Land Rover LR3, Lexus GX470, Mercedes ML350, VW Touareg V6, and Volvo XC90 Sport.
The SRX placed 2nd overall, behind the MDX. It beat out the newer Mercedes and BMW designs by a small margin. This is another great performance for an aging American design among a bunch of imports.
It's truly a shame that Cadillac isn't happy with sales and may cancel the model. This is arguably GM's most acclaimed car along with the Corvette. urbanski 03-31-07, 04:51 PM merged w/ existing thread I just read that test today. It was an interesting perspective...and yet flawed. They ignored the fact some of the vehicles had a smaller 6 cylinder engine (only!) while others had a V8.
Favorite C & D quote: "To 60 mph and through the quarter mile, no competitor here could even read the SRX's rear plate."
Hard to believe a nicely equipped Cadillac N*V8 was barely heavier than a base Acura V6 MDX. LOL.
And the kicker: At the brew pub one night someone asked, "If you had to drive from New York to L.A. tomorrow, which of these would you choose?" Unanimous reply: the SRX. faderrific 08-03-07, 09:55 AM Cowabunga to my generation is from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Cowabunga to my generation is from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Fender vents...... moveebuff 08-27-07, 02:55 PM Hi....I just got my 2004 SRX V8 Northstar and I just love the way it looks, rides etc. I happened to go on this forum just to check out if there was anything that I should be aware about and sure enough.....so many people are complaining about the water in the jack stowage area. I went and checked and mine was soaking wet and the jack was rusty. I took it to the Cadillac dealer today so i'll see what they say. They checked to see if there was a recall on this concern and there wasn't, which is truly surprising to me considering how many complaints i've read. Have you checked your jack stowage area? | |
