For me it has been kind of the under dog and I really have always liked American cars and also the feeling of class I get by driving a Cadillac. My DTS on 20's gets admiring comments and glances from young and old. I only know one person who gets more attention than me and its my brothers Jaguar XK8 on 21's and he payed alot more than I did.

me, being 16, it is kinda weird I would get the old school DeVille...right?

Well, I love American cars, and I love V8's, I love big cars, and luxury cars.... So far my DeVille has all of those features... only thing it lacks to be an "ultimate sweet car" would be RWD.... oh well....

... why do I like *MY* car? Well, to simply put:

styling- the car has some of the best styling (IMO) I love everything about it... the nose, I love the big chrome, bold-looking grille, the chrome bumper with the bumperettes (which I consider an updated from the completly sweet "bullets" on the front bumpers of the 50's) the hood is reall neat, the way it is domed, the grille is connected to the hood, the gold wreath and crest hood ornament, the lights, and the car actually comes to a point in the middle of the grille... you would have to see it to know what I am tlaking about, but it is just amazing styling etc.... moving along the side of the car, the Coupe has such amazing proportions, the only complaint is the engine bay it is small (from the outside) and even more cramped when you open the hood (no room to work on the engine) but you have the fenders, doors and quarter panels all similar size... the trunk extends really far... I love that, not on new cars where the trunk extend 2 feet from the back of the car.... the overall flow of the outside of the car is very nice, along back there is another chrome bumper, the mini-fins, and thin vertical tail lights (look sweet at night) the tunk is actually inset from the tail lights which is really nice, the trunk lid is huge also.

interrior- while the interrior design is from '84, it is dated, adn I do not like it as much as the '92 restyle for the Eldo/Seville, but it is still nice, has the classic horizontal speedo, I like the fact that the lower dash kinda "wraps" around the driver, keeping him in control, the fact that the climate controls and all that are behind the wheel is nice.... passengers can't play with them.... other then that, I have no complaints... the seats are really comfortable, room is plentyful etc... everything is good quality.

engine- love it... while low on high-revving hp, it makes up for it in off-idle toruqe, this is a sweet enigne, and once I get the Edelbrock muffler, it'll really make the V8 something to show off.... power is definitly there.... I just love V8's

exclusitivity- besides the fact that '91-'93 DeVilles are rare around here, adn I have only seen a very small hanfful of Coupes in the last year, my car is only 1 of 119 with the color/body style combo, but I am the only Cadillac at my HS, nobody would suspect me of owning this car, and while kids in my school hate to admit it, everyone loves my car. at first they talk bad about it, then when they see it, they are like woha, that is a sweet car... whatever, I don't care what people say about my stuff, just don't expect a ride int he Cad :) It is truly a car that you can be proud to own and show off

ricer effect- it is great when you pull up to some kid in a riced-out Honda, he sees a young kid in the DeVille and wants to race, and you do, not even running wide open and hand him his azz, for the best effect, run wide open and really show him... it is the best....

... why chose the Cad over a MB/BMW/Lincoln?

Well, I ALWAYS loved Cadillac, the styling is amazing, from the 30's until now, the styling has always moved me, adn I am a GM fan.... I used to hate Lincoln, now I like them, the new Town Cars are really nice, but mostly, the cars I could afford, which would be a '~94 Town Car, while a very nice ride, I do not like their styling at all, the interror is bland, and the dreaded suspension problem, bascially Ford was out of it...

MB, I have always liked them, but they were either too expensive, or the ones I coudl afford were the ugly old kinds etc...

BMW, I seriously considered a ~'93 3-series... but a few reasons, I didn't want to "stuck up" kind of image of driving the car, repairs are VERY expensive, and it seems frequent, the car was a good $2-3k more then what I paid for the DeVille etc... although they are RWD....

.... it was a sheer coincidence (sp) of how I found my car... but everything about it I love... the year, body style, color combo, the engine is in great shape, was extremly clean, and NO gunk at all in the valve covers etc... all the hoses, hose covers and weather stripping is in great shape.... this car is in great condition, it was a Florida car it's whole life, and while in NY, it only went through 1 snow storm, then I got a winter car, so in reality, it has never been through a winter.....

THAT, and more is why I own my Cadillac, I can go on and on aswell.... check out my Car Domain site for more pics and info on the car.... and racing the car was sweet... my time was pretty bad, but the car was stock, no tune up, and my first time racing it etc... it was still sweet to race it there, even when I was next to 12second Mustangs and Camaros, I would still get peopel coming up to me while in the line waiting to race asking me about it, and soo many people just looking at the car saying how nice it is etc....

I am 56 years old and grew up riding my Grandfathers 55 Caddy and my Uncles (Curtis Turner, from early Nascar days) Cadillac's. That was in the 50's and 60's. A friend of mine bought a new 1960 convertible new and we tooled around in that for many years. Long story short, I'm old:rant2:, the kids are grown and gone, and Cadillac is building beautiful cars again and like the others here I like to big ride, the quiet and the comfort, not to mention driving a nice Caddy is good for the soul.
Cadillac has been a part of the best things in my life and just looking at the crest reminds me of great family and friends. Cadillac is a real American icon..........Tom

I remember when my father had his '77 Coupe DeVille.... man, while not FAST it sure was QUICK (like my car) and had soo much power.... we towed the boat with that... 5,000+ lbs loaded... man, he said he could hardly tell the car was pulling it whiel driving... even under braking (which the trailer brakes didn't, and still don't work) except trying to pull the boat out of the water, the Cad would sit there spinning both rear tires with the speedo pegged at 85..... good times.... them right before the guy came to buy it, he stopped doing the massive power braking in the back of the property and went into the house, just as he went into the house, the guy came by...lol.... the '85 Bronco with the 351 HO 4bbl dosn't pull the boat as good as the Cad...

...my mother had an '84 Sedan SeVille (yes, witht he HT4100) this was 7 years ago... it had 28k miles on it, MINT... 4 months after she got it, she had a major head-on collision... if she was still driving the AMC Eagle, she would not be here... wanting another big car, she now has an '89 Brougham, custom gold editon, extrmley slow 307, every single extra option, huge gold Rolls Royce grille etc.... the car is really showing it's age and needs alot of TLC, but she dosn't have the money to fix it up... it runs good and gets her from place to place, so that's all... hope fully in a few years she'll get a newer car, and I can take the old Brougham and resotore it up nice, either swap in an Olds 455 (heard it would be a direct swap) or a Cad 500 (more involved) and build it up... the car needs alot of TLC like I said on the outside, inside, electrical things etc.... I just keep hoping she'll stay together a few more years.... I leanred to drive in that car and took my road test in it....

Cadillac is no "underdog" according to the recent quality ratings! Better than Mercedes, BMW! THEY currently are the underdogs. Let them sulk on it for a while!

I got a killer deal from my Pop.

I learned how to drive in my Father's 72 DeVille. It kind of ruined me for driving other things made at around that same time, Except the Muscle Cars. Once I got those out of my system and survived raising my own family I knew I had to drive one again.

I went with Cadillac cause first off I perfer GM vehicles over Fords. Second Buicks lose there value WAY to fast. Third the Fleetwood is the last of the big cars, and I got mine in good condition for 4k.

I have been watching the luxury car field shape up for years. Starting in 1990 when the LS400 shook the establishment up. And then 1992 when the beatiful new STS was announced and 1993 when the Northstar engine came. Back then the E class was crap and the 5 series way outdated but boy could no one stop talking about the improvement over at Caddy especially that Northstar engine! :worship: BMW and Mercedes were doing this trying to figure out a plan :hide: I worked at a Good Year at the time and a GM exec brought his car in for a set of Z rated GoodYear Eagle GA's 225/60/16. I asked him if he would take me for a drive to make sure their was no vibration and he knew my ploy we got a couple miles away. and he said here you drive that was a 1994 STS and I was hooked! :bonkers: My first Caddy was a 1995 STS and I loved it it was the fastest sedan you could buy at that time! Now just a few years later and every single Cadillac is now a highly desirable car. I am proud to believe in America and that we can build the best luxury cars on the freaking planet!

Nice responses Guys! I guess i grew up with them since my pops had one. The job i have revolves around a business that many guys drive Cadillacs. I have lots of friends that have Lincoln's (it's sister corp) and they love thier cars also. To me Cadillac and Lincoln represent mean the absolute best in American luxury. Now in my neighborhood thier are many Russians and Armenians that have alot of money and they buy the latest and best Mercedes and they tell me that's one of the best Luxury cars so i tell them NO it's not Cadillac is and then i tell them to **** off, haha.

2 reasons for me...
First is that I love big really big engines and long impressive cars. My father drove a chevrolet Caprice for many years and I fell in love with US-cars. Thats why I sell my BMW now and am looking for the Escalade EXT to arrive

And second reason: Mercedes, BMW, Porsche... they throw with them here in Belgium... when you see 10 cars, there's one of them along.
And cadillac is very exclusive here in Belgium, I see one maybe 3 or 4 times in a year.

1 - My father is a GM retiree and I try to always buy GM.

2 - I wanted either a RWD performance-oriented 4 door sedan or an AWD, 4WS extended cab pickup. So my top choices were CTS or GMC Sierra Denali. With incentives, price was about the same.

3 - My wife wanted a CTS.

Always wanted a Cadillac and a Harley. Said I would buy both (CTS & Softail)when I get older. Well one day I looked in the mirror and said, "It's Time." :)

GM all the way, that's all I've ever owned. Cadillacs make a statement - a statement that you appreciate your driving experience. I had a semi-luxury car with my Buick, and I wanted the next and final GM step up. So here I am with GM's luxury line of vehicles. Plus females love them...mention it while you are talking with them: $$ in their eyes...

My first car was a hand-me-down 84 or 85 (Cant remember) Buick LeSabre v8 from my parents. Then I owned a 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 with the 455 a few years ago. I LOVED that car, and knew that I wanted another GM after my experience with both of those cars. And I KNEW that I really wanted a cadillac. I've had a few other cars too, another mid 80's (cant remember again) delta 88, a 86 nissan 300zx, celica, and currently own a 91 Toyota Previa minivan :rolleyes2

It's about a combination of power and style. The Caddys have so much class to them, from old to new, they all just look and feel so "right". Friends tried to discourage me from buying the caddy i got last week (72 Eldorado) but now they're all envious. Someday they will learn :D

if u dont mind me asking, why do u love FWD so much??while promoting slower acceleration it's really cool for a couple of reasons. FWD is alot safer, i got into a couple of accidents due to RWD. i love smoke coming out of front wheel wells and it feels different when a FWD car accelerates, i just like it.

I wouldnt go THAT far, but the Cadillac that did me in was the 1992-2004 STS line, man those are some of the greatest looking cars around, but the truly special ones are the 1992-1997 models. I think they are the best because they (along with the Eldorado) were pretty much their OWN platform (instead of the Aurora G Chassis), and the cars that really turned Cadillac around when they were nearly at the bottom of the barrel, then in 1993 the Northstar engine appeared and that became THE standard in american V8s. I remember when I bought my 96 Lincoln with Fords ATTEMPT at the NS, the 4.6L Intech, the salesman said "ohh yea that engines just about as good as that Northstar in them caddies!", a quote that has always stuck with me for some reason. You will never wean me off German cars, they are simply at the top of their game in their own right, BUT I can say that I WILL be adding another Northstar (probably a 95-97 STS) to my car collection in the not too distant future. For what they are, Cadillacs are quite simply the best product that is coming out of America right now, and that includes the stuff the FOREIGN guys are building HERE (X5, ML Class Mercedes, they dont compare with our trucks and Luxo SUVs).

Besides I think even being a great driver I can control power on understeer alot better than lift off or throttle on oversteer. Besides it never snows in our area and in January it did I had so much fun flying by all the BWW's and Mercedes in ditches or stuck in their parking spots!

$$ in their eyes? Maybe if it was a new $50,000 Caddy, not one that's worth $4,000-7,000 and 11 years old! My girlfriend and friends think my Caddy is ugly as hell! I do to! I didn't buy it for looks but for the practicality of what it offered as a daily driver.

Although, Black people and Old people always complement my car.

Russians love MBs - its true. But why - in russia MBs are top of the tops. It was first big foreign car, what they seen there.
And of course, Germany is more closer to russia and they(germans) are not so big enemies, than americans (thanks for 60 years of propaganda). They just cant imagine, that other cars can be better/more luxurious....
Been there, seen that...

I'm russian myself. they love mercs and because in russia a new eldo (in 02 when they made them) was well over $130,000 :bonkers:, and that's too expensive considering that you'll be even poorer after something breaks since u have to order from u.s. but people know what caddies are and are more respected then mercs or bimmers, it's just that they're used to mercs and bimmers. here in u.s. is't not a smart decision (IMO) to buy a foreign car when we make some of the best cars in the world. a dts is alot more luxury then a 7series or s500, a vette is alot better then a tt, z4 and sl500 put together and mustang cobras are above 350z and g35 coupes (most of the better american cars are acutally cheaper or cost about the same amount of money)

Of course, since about 90-, they have all kind of cars. I think, they have more Linc limos, than in Hollywood :D I talk from time, when there was iron curtain between russia and other countries. Then was only 2 known luxury cars - MB and BMW.
Hell - KGB and governement drove MBs in those days. It wasnt car for ordinary people.
And about parts - now they have covered all cars in repair shops - but they cost lotta-lotta dinero...

I don't like the design. I think it looks too dated (not in a good way) and for a Caddy it's too small. It is in excellent condition and in that aspect I think the car looks great. Now I love the way the car drives. It's perfect for what I need it to do, just not a looker in my opinion!!!

Why not Cadilllac? Well I got 1998 Eldorado w/ 45,000 miles on for $10,000 when i turned 17. Now i'm about to turn 18 and im glad i'm driving a cadillac instead of a honda. How many High School kids do you see driving cadillacs? Not many. Everyone always compliments me on my car. My friends always ask me why i spend so much time and money on my car, i tell them atleast im not spending it on a civic. No matter what modification i do to my eldorado, its still a classy car. And the ladies do love it.
