View Full Version : Remote Trunk Release Repair

I have looked at lots of messages in the forum and probably missed this. My '98 Deville trunk will not open with the remote or the button on the dash - only with the key. Dealer says this is a $200 fix. On my meter there is no power coming through the solenoid so I assume that is the problem. Is there a good source, other than the dealer, for a replacement and what should it cost? Thanx

Any update on this issue, I have the same problem with my 2000 STS, button inside and key fob don't work (doesn't pop up, doesn't even unlock), I can only open the trunk with the key

Valet switch in the glove box?

If it is not switched off, then a wrecking yard would also be a good source for the part. Off the top of my head, I suspect that solenoid has a very low failure rate.

I sent this message in the middle of my search, and I later found the valet switch check, and sure enough, I am an idiot - my brother flicked the switch over as he was looking through my glovebox this weekend, I feel much better now! Thanks guys
