Actually the brakes are the same, the only difference being that if you get the Sport Package you get performance brake pads. The 3.2L and 3.6L have the same rotors and braking systems.

Yep! The late '04's were merely the setup and preludes to the '05's.

I didn't know the CTS was an XLR.

I lucked out and got the better 04 before I even knew about them.
