got a chance to pick up used 500 motor and trans.....Where will I find ID#? need to know what it is and what year...it does have smog crap!

500s were painter Royal (dark) blue from the factory. 368s were corporate blue which is lighter. The 368 might have plastic valve covers. A 500 won't

The bastard (and every other curse word) of Cadillac motors is the HT-4100 as delivered in RWD cars. A 368 isn't hot rod material but is a good powerplant.
