damn, talk about going off on a tangent, i read that, then googled the EV1 which led me to a wiki page, i read that until i got to the part at the end where they mentioned replacing the EV1 exhibit at smithsonian with Stanley a robotic VW Touareg...

Largely unknown is the fact that GM financially backed other developers of alternate automotive systems. A good example is Bill Lear's attempts at a steam driven bus. GM knew that if they announced it wasn't technically feasible they'd be accused of ulterior motives but Lear was an inventor with credentials and would be believed. GM put up the capitol, Lear got his basic physics lesson, built his flopperoo, and the idea fell to oblivion.

http://www.teslamotors.com/I'd like a real world test, please. You know, one where you test performance AND longevity at the same time...

My gosh! look at all the other cars in those pictures! Every GM concept car, and popular car... I see a K5 Blazer, a Chevette and a last gen Riviera..... dang.... I would absolutly love if there was a place to go to see them..... I'd atleast like to see pictures of them.
