Well first of I have to say I am new to this forum and have been reading old post for the past 10 days or so cause there is so much good information here. I am the owner of a 72 coupe DeVille(picked up for $850). Have had it for some time now(little over two years), but it has been sitting up until the last couple months as I'm am really eager to get this baby going. As of right now its running sweet just the carb gives me some troubles, like bogging on full throttle and dieseling sometimes(which I have done a whole can of SeaFoam as of the past 3 days).

The motor has been rebuilt and I just got the whole tranny redone(pricey). Now I'm starting to work on the engine some more. The carburetor has to be rebuilt and I still have/want to upgrade to HEI.. etc. so I have several questions so I wanted to ask as many in this thread instead of several.


What are some cars I can pull the distributor from to upgrade to HEI, or is it better to buy aftermarket?
I want to replace the air cleaner assy. but I see there is some kind of vacuum line connected to it, what is it and if not important should I just plug it and finish installing the new assy?
I'm planning on keeping the original valve covers, what kind of paint should I use to finish them?


I'm sure I will have some more questions in the future as I will be around here for some time :P so I will leave it at this for now. cheers
