So as I mentioned in another thread, I spent my weekend taking a tactical SLR rifle course in Missouri. I'm sore as hell today so I;m lounging and posting pics for you guys:

Another gentleman, US Army, with his lovely BHP. Cocked and locked. :D

Another unique and well made sidearm, the H&K squeeze cocker

We drilled on shooting from standing, high kneel, low-braced kneel, sitting, and prone. We were also timed in assembly and disasembly of our weapons, and drills clearing bouble feeds and misfeeds. Everyone is wearing sidearms because several of the drills we ran were transitioning from rifle to pistol.

2 days, 16 hours, over 800 rounds fired. At the end of the second day we had to pass a "multi-position, multi-distance, timed shooting drill" and weapons breakdown and assembly....and yours truly took the honor of top shooter of the class. :D

Congrats on top!

Looks like a helluva fun weekend, and once again, I'm rather jealous of your non-californian status.

I didn't peek at my individual times, only the overall total. I can disassemble my AR in less than 12 seconds IIRC, maybe quicker with some practice and a clean rifle. We were timed at the end of 2 days with a hot, dirty rifle. :D So I'm not exactly sure how long it takes me!? :alchi:

The only time it really matters, I say.

Werd to that brotha. Nothing more relaxing then dropping targets 300m downrange. Of course shooting the .50 BMG was fun too :D:bouncy:

I want a .416 Barrett. I think I want it more than the .50.

Look into it. You'll be impressed.

Heh, didn't Ronnie come out with that just to say f'ck you to the California gun hater crowd and the associated .50 ban?

Kinda sorta, yea...BUT, the damned thing is still moving supersonic at, like, two thousand yards. Ridiculous velocities at long ranges. Better ballistics than the .50BMG.

I've actually discovered a loophole in the .50 BMG California ban. The law ONLY states .50 BMG cases, and names them by specific dimiensions. If one was to take the case and form it slightly different so that it no longer fit the exact dimensions of the "illegal" round, it would be legal to own and fire. Harrassment would occur all the time, yes, I'm sure, but it could be made legal if you changed the round and machined the chamber of the firearm to not allow the .50BMG to fit it.

Think .50 cal spotting rifles, such as the one mounted on top of the 106mm recoilless rifle. Totally legal, by definition and letter of the law. It fires a slightly different .50 cal round which better matches the trajectory of the 106 mounted on the jeep. And because it is a totally different round than the .50 BMG, which is SPECIFICALLY described and named as such in the statute, it would be totally legal.

Dude, how can you live in a state that apparently soooooo clearly infringes on your Second Amendment Rights? I know Cali has great beaches, an awesome porno industry & some other redeeming qualities, but isn't this a slippery slope in that state? Next thing you know they are going to want to ban spanking, oh wait that was already introduced. :alchi: I've said it before & I'll say it again, the only time I'm ever going to step foot in that state is to become a Jeopardy Champion. :alchi:

Ha...

Ha. Have you not noticed just HOW often I mention hating the fact that I live here? And no, its not just the gun laws. It's a lot more than that. ...can't really get too much into it without getting into political crap and getting the thread closed, so I'll leave it at that.

Love the terrain, weather, etc. Can't stand the state, the policies or the people. :)
