I think he wants to turn off the coolant temp reading on the DIC. My question is why? Just hit the info button to put something else (or blank) on the display. Depending on the year/model it may be possible to delete the coolant temp readout through option programming, but I don't know why anyone would want to, unless trying to hide the fact the engine is running consistently hot(ter) than spec for resale purposes.
Then again, maybe he is getting a malfunction code related message, like "engine overheated" or the like, and is trying to clear that.
We'll need more info before we can give a straight answer.
