My 2000 Deville makes a clicking sound after depressing the mode switch on the dash to switch from defrost to face or foot air vents. I've spent three nights now trying to take apart the dash just to get to the problem. I can see the motor that moves the cams that are attached to the motor and vent dampers. When the clicking sound is heard, if I press a screwdriver on a cam the clicking sound stops and the cams continue to turn. I can also see that the motor is not slipping in the cam. I assume either the motor is lacking enough power or something is binding.

My problem is how to get the motor and cams out of the car. Half of my dash is on the garage floor. This is the most well made car I have ever worked on. At least six screws holding the glove box in. I've ordered a parts manual and repair manual from ebay but haven't received the yet. Any ideas on how to get the motor and cams out would be GREATLY appreicated.

Thanks for reading about my problem.
