I was at a resturaunt the other night, and this guy was bragging his as off on how fast his 2004 E55 AMG Mercedes was.. All i heard was :~blah: , 500HP, AMG, Navigation, :~blah: . I'm telling ya it made me.. :vomit: !! Anyways, i didn't say i had a "V", as i had no clue about how fast a E55 really is. So, has anyone raced one, and did you win or lose?

Chances are not very good in a straight line...even with a Maggie. Just remember, driving an automatic is lame.

Your chances are nil. Quarter mile his speed 12.39/116.21 (#42). Yours 13.1/109.8 (#85). He'd give you your desert. :thehand:

Your chances are great if your on the road in everyday driving situations. Traffic is the great equalizer. Not that I would race on the roads. Too dangerous.

Put the bottle on, you should drag the e55's nuts!

It should be a good race. All depends what gear you start in. He may pull you up top. IF he does then time for more mods:thumbsup:

Driver competence is a MAJOR factor. I raced a brand new Viper recently and took him easily...idiot didn't know how to shift. But then again, with the AMG, it's floor it and pray.

CTS-V = $50k
AMG E55 = $90K

we wont lose by that much, and we'll still have money for lunch and gas...

I couldn't even imagine anyone saying that it would be close with minor bolt ons! With a SC it will be a great run, with heads and cam, the same, with just cam and bolt ons it will be close but figure a loss for the V. All these scenario's are highway runs as I have ran many different cars on the highway. The closest comparison here was a CLS55 from 50-140mph numerous times before my headers. Just had exhaust, CAI, tune. The E car is approx. 300lbs. lighter and could be more.

Driver doesn't matter in these cars, it's PHD!

I would like to tell you that you will have a chance, but if you are stock, it will be very ugly. The E55 is a great straight line racer, just stomp the gas and it will go. I know a few E55 owners, and have seen them run at the dragstrip, and the cars are amazing. One owner has upgraded to a Kleeman Stage 3 and ran his car 29 times at a track rental, and ran 11.6s all night. Here are the specs:

2004 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG
Wheelbase: 112.4 inches
Length: 190.3 inches
Curb weight: 3,990 pounds
Powertrain: Supercharged 5.4-liter, 24-valve V-8; five-speed automatic with Touchshift manual shifting
Horsepower: 469 hp at 6,100 rpm
Torque: 516 pound-feet at 2,650 to 4,500 rpm
Acceleration: 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds
EPA rating: 14 miles per gallon city, 21 mpg highway
Price, base: $76,200, including $720 delivery

E55 Kompressor will LEAP away from your V at 35-40MPH when it hits the peak of it's insane mountain of torque. At that very moment you can inspect the tail as it runs away from you. Many of those E55 cars have some mods, I had my ass handed to me by a couple of them. What really pisses me off is when one of the older than crap blue haired operators opens a can of whoop ass on my Vette in a modded E55 (how embarrasing is that?). German rocket sled. I'm sure the V would bury one on a mountian road or the track, but not in a street race.

BASTARDS!

(Curb weight is more like 4,300+ on the E55)

Well, you better get over it now. :rant2: There are all of the 5.5L supercharged AMG's from previous years and now the, equally fast, 6.3L N/A motors in the current AMG's. Money can definitely buy you speed...but that goes for the V as well :stirpot:

Wait until they put a blower on the 6.3

That'll be some wicked German Iron.
