A sad day has come that I need to put a front license plate on my srx (one ticket did it).:crybaby:

Does anybody know how involved doing it by myself would be?
Do you need to take the bumper off to mount it?

I appreciate the help.

Had the same issue and mounted it myself. Here's how:

Line up the bracket on the bumper and mark the four mounting holes with a marker or punch. Using a 3/16" drill, bore the four holes. You then can use a pop rivet tool and attach the bracket with four 3/16" pop rivets. Make sure that the rivets will grip 1/4". I used a 5mm length and they worked fine. It's somewhat intimidating drilling the four holes but it really is quite easy.

I'm glad we don't have front tags in Oklahoma!

At one time the dealer would give you the front plate mount. Doesn't cost to ask. There were a couple listed on ebay but with shipping, the cost was around $25. Which I think is a little steep!

it's $27 at the dealer plus $50 bucks to get it installed.

I normally don't drive with a front plate, but every year I have to put it on for state inspections. You don't really have to drill holes in your bumber to mount the plate holder. I just drilled a hole on each side of the plate holder and ziptied it to the front bumper. Align it so that the top of the holder fits into the groove in the front bumper. It fits pretty snug, but you can also drill another hole on top of the ones that I have and secure it with a total of 4 zipties for additional support. Since mine is only temporary, 2 zipties will work. The spacing of the openings in the front bumper works out perfect for this.

Here's the hole I drilled on the plate holder. One on each side.

Here's how it looks from afar.

Plate can later be removed w/o any signs.

I live in FL where it's not required, but the dealer put it in for free.

Vdo,

I see you have the running boards, too. I have them on my Black one. Do you have any good pics of the running boards?

That's a good tip VDO.

Too late for me, the damege is done.
I'm getting it back from the dealer today with a bracket. They were working on the shudder/jerking problem. I hope they finally fixed that.

Take care
