Installing Factory Nav Radio into 2007 Escalade

Remove this ad
For those who bought 07 Escalade without Nav Radio and planing to install factory one (used), here is a little info
1. no extra wires needs to be ran. everything is pre wired.
2. back up camera wires can be found at passenger side kick panel. You'll see connector with 3 wires. those are for back up camera inputs. Pink is positive and light blue is negative. ignore third one. it's just a shield wire.
3. GPS antenna install see photo below

please read important info below

Subject: Radio Displays LOCKED or THEFT LOCK - keywords inoperative loc no sound speaker volume #PIT4007 - (05/15/2006)

Models: 2007 Cadillac Escalade, ESV, EXT

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche

2007 GMC Yukon/XL, Yukon Denali/XL

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
The radio theft deterrent system disables functionality if the VIN information received by the radio does not match the vehicle VIN information. The radio receives the vehicle VIN information through GMLAN. If a radio is replaced or swapped from another vehicle the radio will need to relearn the VIN information from the vehicle before it will function. If the VIN information of the vehicle does not match the learned VIN information in the radio, it will display "LOCKED" or "THEFT LOCK".

Recommendation/Instructions:
Currently, performing the radio setup in SI (Document ID # 1745049) will not learn the vehicles VIN information to the new radio. Engineering is aware of this and working on a correction.

A temporary solution is to perform the radio setup in SI (Document ID # 1745049), as well as, perform a VIN relearn. To perform the VIN relearn, build the Tech 2 as follows:

F0: Diagnostics

2006

Passenger Car

(1) Chevrolet

W

WN Monte Carlo LTZ

F6: Body and Accessories

Entertainment

F5: Module Setup

F0: Radio

F0: VIN Relearn

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Gm_geek

Some questions. I am installing a factory unit as described. Why would you install a (used) one in a new vehicle (other than cost)? Are all the factory units the same on the '07? what differences are there with a (used) one? Are connections, features, etc the same?

He probably posted it because there will be owners buying the radios off E-Bay from people that upgraded.

Re: Installing Factory Nav Radio into 2007 Escalade

gm_geek,

I cannot see your photos, I get a red x. Tried a few things still no good. Could you email them to me. charlesm_g@yahoo.com. I also wanted to ask you about the backup camera wiring. You said that the wiring is there for the camera. Is the camera modual that is under the passenger seat there too? I just wanted to say you are the man with all this tech stuff. Thanks for all your help.

Re: Installing Factory Nav Radio into 2007 Escalade

Can you install an OEM nav unit with rear DVD in a truck without the rear DVD unit? There is one on Ebay. I would think it would just turn it off in programing, may be.
