Does anyone know where the entry point is for the jack handle to lower the spare tire on the 07 Escalade?

Re: 07 Escalade Spare Tire

On the Escalade ESV 2007, page 476 in the owners manual describes a pretty complicated process. There is a hole (the spare tire lock) in the rear bumper covered by a little door, the hoist shaft access cover. To access it, first you have to remove the hitch cover, by turning two fasteners located at the bottom of the cover counterclockwise, then pull the cover down and rotate it towards you. Then you open the hoist shaft access cover to access the spare tire lock. Then it says you insert the ignition key, turn it clockwise and then pull it to remove the spare tire lock. Then you assemble the two jack handle extensions and wheel wrench, and insert the open end of the extension through the hoist shaft access hole.

Now, my question is: What is the original size spare tire for the 2007 Escalade ESV? Next question: would a P265 65R18 fit on this vehicle?

I am pretty sure the spare is a 17" tire that is the same diameter as the stock size tires, just can not confirm that right now because of where I am.

Re: 07 Escalade Spare Tire

We are wondering, given that our 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV came with special 22 inch rims, and the owners manual says this is the standard, if a set of 18 inch wheels would work. This is the P265 65 R 18. The car currently has 285 45R 22.

Re: 07 Escalade Spare Tire

Our 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV came with P285 45 R 22 tires on 22 inch rims. The spare is 17 inch. How can the vehicle drive with one smaller wheel and tire? We'd like to get a spare set and see a set of P265 65R18 tires with original cadillac factory wheels for sale. We'd like to be sure they will fit. Can anyone confirm?

The spare is a 17" wheel but the tire is about the same diameter as the stock tires (18" or 22"), so it will work fine as a spare if needed. Yes you can use 18" wheels on your truck, they were the stock size wheels and the 22's were the option, I use the stock 18's myself for my winter wheels.
