2007 Cadillac Escalade with Variable Displacement

I am new to the forum and I am looking to buy a 2007 Escalade this summer. However, on the forums I have read that the variable displacement Escalade will be out in the fall. Is this something worth waiting for? Will the improvement in mileage be worth it? Will this drive up the price?

I don't think it will drive up the price, it will offer better mileage for people doing a lot of highway driving, just how much increase is the question, and will it be trouble free. I am very pleased with the mileage I get, I get about 12.5 in the city and between 18 - 19 on the highway, that is much better than my last two Grand Cherokee's got.

Re: 2007 Cadillac Escalade with Variable Displacement

My dealer told me you're looking at about 25% overall improvement. The new Tahoe will get it first, then the Caddy. If it doesn't affect overall performance and power, I'm all for it.

Re: 2007 Cadillac Escalade with Variable Displacement

There's no reason to believe it will effect performance. If you're set on buying but can wait, I believe it's a feature worth waiting for. My Escalade gets 12.5 mpg city as long as I'm not running the a/c, and as low as 11-11.5 with the a/c blowing. I say the displacement on demand feature is loooonnng over due.

the engine in the current 07's will be phased out this fall with the dod comes out... gm needed to get the escalade into production fast so they had to do without the dod and the power running boards, both of which will be out in the fall.

Is there any reason to think there will be problems with this new engine?

The engine should be fine, from what i have read here and heard from automotoive reports etc etx, you should have no problem. I also would wait. If you can pull morethan 17 or 18 mpg out of your suv thats great but if you can get 20+ man that would really put a smile on your face. Especailly since u still got 4 cyl.'s on tap to kick asss!!!!!
Wait wait wait.

I get 18-19 on the highway now with the computer tuning I have, I am sure with my 07' with the lower overdrive and after I add header and exhaust and tuning it should easily get 22 on the highway.

It should be, but there has been many problems in the past when using this type of design, but the electronics are much better than in years past.
