2007 Escalade BCM replacement. Original is part is different from new part

I found out that the BCM unit needs to be replaced on my 2007 escalade. I bought a reman one from rock auto PN:25835966. When my mechanic took out the original BCM in my car the PN: on it is 15943678. Plugged the new one in and the car didn't work. I called and checked w/ dealership w/ my VIN and they said it's supposed to be PN: 25835966 and they have no record of the 15943678. WTF????

25835966 should be correct. Their is a relearn procedure that has to be performed to start the car. Check the internet for GM VATS relearn procedure. From what I've been able to research, the BCM has to be programmed for your VIN so the BCM will function properly. I'm looking at the same issue and plan to buy the BCM and see if I can install it at the dealer and have them program. I think the car not starting after installing is normal unless you did the relearn procedure. What I'm not sure of is if the relearn should be done after the BCM is programmed. That's why I'm thinking I'll just take the BCM to the dealer and have them do both.

Do you think the dealer will be willing to install an aftermarket BCM, since I didn't buy it from them?

I called and they said they would but they couldn't guarantee it would work. I haven't done anything yet. Debating on just having them find the problem and if it is the BCM, fix it and then if that's not it, I'm not just throwing good money at a misdiagnosis.

My dealer won't install a part that is not bought from them, so I would be stuck buying the BCM from them. On a positive note, after taking out the bcm and re installing it, it hasn't acted up at all and the car works fine, I'm not going to do anything till it acts up again.

Nice to know. That was an easy fix. These 07s seem to have some electrical issues. My BCM turned out to be fine too. I found an electrical short between the firewall and the underhood fuse box that was causing my break light/ stop light outage. Shoved a small piece of foam under the wire harness and everything work OK.
