Has anyone installed this with a non-nav unit? If so, any drawbacks? I'm planning to purchase in the next couple weeks and it sounds very promising and exactly what I want.

Here are a few screen shots and my mic install. I am looking into an alternate mic as the unit that comes with the iSimple is not that great.

Would be great if we can some how get the stock mic working. I'm sure its just a 2 conductor cable? Anyone know where these lines go into? Prob. the VCIM. If it does go in there maybe we just need to trace to see what the mic lines are and turn that into a 3.5mm plug that would fit into the ISGM651? Doubt it though since it sounds to easy to do!

I started using the USB connection with a 8gb flash drive and I am very happy with the performance, sound quality is excellent. I am picking up a new mic later today that hopefully will improve my phone quality.

Installed this mic http://www.frys.com/product/7851419?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG on my iSimple last night and I am pleased to say there is an overall improvement in sound quality and much less background noise, well worth the $20.

says the cable is only 1m which seems short. Was it long enough? or did you need an extension?

Re: iSimple Connect Opinions for 2008 Escalade?

Well after installed and have had a bit of time to use it I can say that I honestly am not all that impressed with it. I don't like the fact that I cannot see the number out(when dialing a call) and cannot dial from the vehicles navi screen. I also don't like the fact that when I am done with a call it does not automatically go back to music(FM or CD). Considering I got it for $105.00 shipped its not the end of the world, I guess I just had higher expectations of its functionability.

    John,
You can voice dial from the Nav screen or dial directly on your phone. For the lack of auto switching back, something is not right, mine switches back automatically each time. Which firmware do you have?

    Kip,
I guess I don't know the answer to the firmware question..? Should I have done some sort of update to the unit before installing it behind the radio? I'm not very sharp when it comes to computer stuff....

Also, I think it would be nice to be able to see the contact name as well as number when an incoming call happens and answer the call without having to fumble for the phone.. Am I supposed to be able to do these things as well with this unit?

    Thanks for the help,
    -John
