2008 Escalade Drivers side mirror question?

I was recently in a small accident and had to have the drivers side mirror replaced. I have a feeling the mechanic gave me a aftermarket mirror, but hopefully I am wrong. How do I tell if it is a heated mirror? Also, I am getting double vision when looking at night. It looks the same from the backside but the front has a thick border while the originally passenger side one doesn't and the glass looks different. He me that they changed the mirrors and I can't get the exact OEM from 2008 Escalade.

Firstly how can I tell? Secondly, if he did screw me, how do I get it fixed through my insurance and/or report it?

Thanks for any and all help!!

I had my passenger side mirror on my 08 esv replaced last wk. The whole mirror was replaced, not just the glass. So it was sent by GM primed and ready to paint. It matches my other...heated...leds line up.

I would ask the insurance rep straight up. In NC they have the option to use some aftermarket parts as long as the so called quality is the same and I believe they also have to inform you of listed aftermarket parts if you inquire. Could be the mechanic stuck it to you or the insurance required him to put an aftermarket on if it is aftermarket.

Thanks for the help. I am going to call my adjuster tomorrow and go to the dealer to verify my parts and auto work. Really appreciate the help!

Or, it could have just been one that wouldn't have passed the QC but managed to slip through.

It is weird though because the casing from the front is different and the mirror is bordered with a thick plastic which my passenger one is not. It seems the passenger original mirror is crystal clear and no thick border and the replaced one gives me double vision blur and it just seems that he gave me an excuse why it was different. I have a feeling he cut corners and I will definitely take it to a dealer to confirm that. I already called my adjuster to contact me so I can straighten this out. My 2008 looks brand new the way I take care of it so things like this drive me nuts that I put so much time and effort in taking care of it and then I can't trust people to do the right job. .....I appreciate your insight 2kflhr. Thanks bud!! Guess I have to wait a little longer to start my mods
