Escalade to a sports car to a Escalade?

I'm making this thread to basically see what you guys think. Some of you may remember I sold my 02 Escalade (modified) because I was moving out of the US. Our contract ended overseas so I purchased a Saleen here in FL. Now that a year has gone by I really miss the versatility of having an Escalade. Have any of you guys gone from a sports car to your Escalade and regretted it? I have only driven one 2007+ and that was only on a test drive and of course I loved it. Are you guys really satisfied with your 2007+? How does it feel on power? I know the 2007+ has 403HP I believe to the 345 I used to have.

Also, those of you that had both an Escalade ESV and a regular Escalade which do you prefer? Does the ESV ride better? I noticed some 2007+ have black grilles (I like that) and some have chrome, what is that about?

My wife bought me a '13 CTS-V with added mods so it has about 600+hp. It is fun but i hardly drive because I love my escalade. It's more comfortable and I love the feeling of being higher up. Whenever we go out I automatically head for the escalade. From here on out I will always drive a SUV preferably an Escalade.

Spkey, I am like you, I always had cars until I got my 2004 back in 2007 and I don't think I could drive a car again. Like you I love sitting higher of the ground.

I've basically always had a GM SUV and a Camaro. My wife has driven her '97 Eldorado since '98 and it still has less than 65,000 miles. Anytime we go out we drive the Escalade, It cant be beat for ride and comfort. I enjoy tooling around in town in the older SS Camaro running errands and such but if there is somewhat of a ride to do it's in the Escalade and I wouldn't have it any other way.

BTW, I see you have a Saleen but your username is Slowstang305.

I swapped back and forth between my heavily modded supra turbo, and the escalade. I love the ride of the escalade and comfort. But when I want to blow off some steam, nothing beats 550 whp making rotating your car

Re: Escalade to a sports car to a Escalade?

Have an 07 Escalade ESV. Bought new and has 117k miles. The ESV does ride a bit smoother due to the longer wheelbase. Most useful/practical suv I've owned. It has some guts on the performance side but remember its still a big ass truck. I'm fortunate that if I want to have some fun I can fire up my CTS V or one of my Vettes. If you need the room and utility of a big SUV the Slade wins hands down. I'm waiting for the new Escalade to come out and will sell my 07... More horsepower, more refinement but more $$$ for the 2015.

Thanks guys. I can see that the best thing to do is too keep both but parking is an issue so I will have to remain with one vehicle. The mustang is great but not being able to tow a wave runner or even take my bike anywhere limits where I can go. I looked at the 2015 at the auto show but it was honestly not that impressive. We will have to wait for them to hit the streets. Not to mention the price is going to be quite high. MRANT, what kind of price do you have in mind for your 07?

    Even Saleens are slow

Re: Escalade to a sports car to a Escalade?

I faced the same situation as you, but with a four door passenger sedan. In 2012, I talked myself into trading my 2011 ESV for a new Lexus 460L AWD. As soon as I drove the Lexus off the lot, I had this sick feeling and immediately knew that I had made a big mistake.

I drove the Lexus for about four months and hated it. I really missed the ride, presence, height, looks, and cargo space of the Escalade ESV. In April of 2013 I made the decision to dump the Lexus, and bought a new 2013 Escalade ESV Platinum. Could not be happier to be back in the ESV.

I prefer the ESV to the regular Escalade for the passenger, cargo space and ride. The 2013 makes my fifth ESV purchase to date, and I will continue to drive one.

    Good luck....

The black grilles you're seeing are probably on 12+ Premiums like mine. They have a lot more color matched pieces and a lot less chrome.

I could never give up having a full size SUV, so if I had to pick one I'd pick the Esky. Best is have both so ZL1 for me this spring.

Oh that's right, there's a color matched version of the regular grille available as an accessory and I think it was stock on some trim levels ... I'm thinking about the colormatched Platinum style bumper. And yeah I can't wait to buy the ZL1 and do nasty things to her ... I'm a sucker for cam lope.

Not sure yet where I'll be pricing my ESV at. A number of folks have expressed an interest in it since they know how I am with cars...including my dealership. When I'm ready ill pop it up here. Should sell quite fast if elect not to trade it in.

I have a 2011 ESV Premium & I really like it. If I had to chose between a sports car and my Lade the Lade would win hands down but thats just me. The ride on mine is excellent and it does have some get up & go. For hauling people and cargo in comfort it can't be beat. I get a lot of compliments on what a impressive vehicle it is. Very few problems with the truck and those problems were minor. My premium did come with a color matched grille.

It had to either be dealer installed or the previous owner (if bought used) installed it ... 11 Premiums only came with the standard chrome hood trim and grille from the factory.
