This Is a simple short write up on replacing the rear camera on escalade esv. My camera system started displaying service rear vision System. I ordered a 60$ oem camera on ebay. The easiezy and 30 minute swap is through the rear under the applique where the rear camera is located. First u need a flat head screwdriver and 10inch needle nose pliers min. And some sealant or plastic glue.

My process I popped off the rear camera with a screwdriver and the camera broke but oh well it was broken anyway. Then I pulled out the 12 inches of cables thru the camera hole. I then used my needle nose pliers and grabbed the connector thru the camera hole and I yanked on it until the clips break off of the cable enough to pull more cable out. Once more cable feeds out you can disconnect the connector and change out your camera and finish your install with a little glue to put ur camera back on.

Word of advice I tried removing the rear panel from inside but it doesnt help at all with camera replacement. This isa very quick job. I wrote this to save others time.

My best guess is the original camera is poorly sealed and the applique isnt water tight so with any car wash etc water seeps into the camera and you have problems with the system. Good luck everyone I hope this helps someone in the future. Sry no pics because it was raining today.

That is one way of doing it or you can do it the correct way and not have to glue it in. But yes you do have to remove the inside panel to get access to the 4 nuts for the outside rear applique and than remove the screws that hold the camera in.
It is not that hard of a job except for the 4 nuts that will not unscrew off the studs you must pry it off and replace with a different kind of fastener. I did try to explain how to fix this in another post I did.
From start to finish should only take one hour.

Piss poor engineering on GM's part. Something as apt as back up camera to fail the applique and all should be made to simply unbolt and reinstall. Having to replace the fasteners on the applique is ludicrous.
