M1 is still a pretty decent synthetic, but I prefer an Amsoil, Redline, Joe Gibbs premium syn as M1 has reduced to near nothing the zinc phosphorus content for anti-scuff protection.

Nope, use anything you want, the engine cannot tell the difference. I been using AMSOIL for over 35 yrs so thats the only oil I would ever trust in my CTS or my Denali.

Keep in mind there are 2 versions of Mobil 1, the regular version or the extended performance version, which is much better oil.

Oil brand is irrelevant, but I wouldn't recommend suggesting the incorrect viscosity.

Mobil 1 says it can replace 5w30 and 10w30. It's the second number that specifies the viscosity at 210 degrees.

    Re: Mobile 1 oil?

Yep on 5w30 the oil is a 5 weight oil rated at winter temps. AKA 5 winter 30. The 30 is the viscosity at 210 degree's operating temp. The 30W they get from the 5W by adding a package to make the oil perform as a 30w at temp. But it flows as a 5w in the cold. And yes the "W" means winter not weight.
