    mpg wheels

    Hello
Bought an escalade with 26" wheels on it. They weight 100 pounds wheel and tire. They are also 1" in diameter taller in height from stock. Does anyone know how much going to an 85lb wheel and tire with stock diameter would effect mpg? How much does 15lbs of weight per rim and 1 inch taller effect mpg? Thinking about down sizing but not worth it for 1 mpg. The mpg meter read 11.9 before i reset it, it probably hadnt been reset in a long time so that reading is probably accurate for freeway and street over a long period of time.

    Re: mpg wheels

I'll tell you that with stock 22s I'm getting 14.9MPG with an even mix of highway and city driving. Haven't reset in about 6000 miles, and I'm honestly kind of an acceleration junkie off the light...

You can put nitro air inside of the tires I to notice my mpg in NYC traffic go from 9mpg to 10.5mpg so yes the weight does matter but you can put nitro air inside of it to offset it.

Yeah... none of this will matter... any improvements in mpg will be imperceptible, at best. Don't do any of this for mpg reasons.

    Re: mpg wheels

I cant tell you what mpg you will gain but every 25lbs of rotational mass you remove from the truck is like taking 100lbs off the truck and every 100lbs out of the truck should get you .1 seconds in the 1/4 mile (and we all know lighter is better). I can tell you that with my 22's and 305 45 22 tires inflated to 40 lbs i get 18~19 mpg on the highway (hand calculated) doing 70 mph for 100 miles.
