My Driver side mount is bad. I hate the idea of paying the dealer $738.00 to replace. Going to attempt to replace it myself.

Shouldn't be very difficult if you're somewhat handy around the garage.

'07 ESV, broken drivers side mount. Hardest part seemed to be lining bolts up.

ok - i'm feeling a lil better about the leaking drivers side engine mount estimation by my dealership

07 esv that has 108k miles

    710 repair estimate

should i be doing both sides?

i don't feel anything funny in the ride

it's there for a throttle body repair

When replacing the left mount on a AWD, will the half shaft need to be removed completely or is it enough just to remove the bolts where the half shaft meets the diff as to swing it away? Mechanic will get the job if the strut have to come off

Is there a trick to get the steering shaft out? Mine appears to be heavily corroded. I can't seem to get it free. Is it possible to fit it out the bottom as I already have the front differential off (had to replace oil pan gasket)?

I have a 09 ESV AWD. Had a strange leak, staining looked like radiator fluid but found it was oil. Dealer confirmed it was a "leaking" motor mount. Did anyone else have the leak? Dealer said its a big job, need to drop the diff. etc.

    I did this last night.

I've read several threads on this repair, and everyone wants fyi drop the diff or separate the steering (or both).

Has no one noticed the mount has two nuts holding the top plate to the bottom?

I separated the top and bottom and worked the pieces out independently of one another. Couldn't have been easier.

Got the new one back in the same way. Far easier than any other method I've read so far.

I wonder if anyone has given thought to ways of reinforcing that mount... if it's this common (and I just had mine replaced under warranty) there has to be a better way to protect this from happening.

Care to expand on this? One mount or two? What did you do differently other than separate top and bottom?
