These kinds of threads always make me lqtm ... there's always miracle workers who get better mileage than the already exaggerated manufacturer specs. Apparently some of you drive 110% of your time without passengers or cargo on a highway at 45mph downhill with a stiff breeze at your back. I mean honestly, I once drove my truck through Florida highway flatland on a full tank at 70mph on cruise control and barely got 17.5mpg. Heck, my Tahoe Hybrid got worse mileage in real life conditions than some of you are declaring on your ESVs.

Well, My ESV with 18" and 128K miles on her, new transmission, new plugs, New Wires, 15.1 not trying to get get mileage. Just plain old driving with city mixed in. And it is AWD. I can reset it and on a trip it will get 18.3 @ 70 on cruize for a 400 mile trip without stopping.

2007 ESV AWD, 119k. 93 octane Costco fuel average driving rural city (45MPH) is 17.5. Recent 1000-mile highway round trip average at 75MPH was 21.6. No modifications whatsoever, except 0W30 Mobil 1 oil and Mobil 1 75W90 in the diffs. No BS, just a well-maintained, perfectly broken-in L92 with tires inflated to 38psi, and gently accelerating.

Used 87 octane for the first 110,000 miles and it would achieve 18.3-19.1 on that same 1000-mile round trip. So the 93 octane definitely pays for itself.

I see 10.2 on mostly city. Not any quick acceleration. Just normal, speed limit driving.
    87 Octane

I see some post with such high MPG's!! How can it be so different?

Because you have to get out on the open road to hit sixth gear and cruise at 70 with the engine turning under 2,000 rpm. It does not take near as much power to keep these beasts moving as it does to get them moving.

I get 10.6 in New York City. I used to get 9.5 but I changed the plugs, 4 Fuel Injectors, Evap canister and purge valve now I am good.

I averaged 13.6-14.1 on my 10 and 12. The 13 with 2,000 miles is only doing 13-13.1 on regular unleaded

ESV with 22" wheels, always run on 92 gas. 11.5mpg for everyday driving, lot of local & idle.

    15 mpg for long trips.
