Could always go to a reputable shop and have them wrap the dash in leather/vinyl.

Lucked out that my 2007 doesn't have any cracks when I got it. I promptly ordered a WeatherTech sun shield on eBay for $55 today.

I was told the cracks are from the sun beating down on the dash. The plastic gets brittle from sun exposure and cracks from vehicle vibration over time. I think this is an engineering issue........

Tint that windshield - offers great protection - aesthetically pleasing front side look to boot.

Add me to the long list of Cadillac Escalade owners who have a cracked dash. Mine cracked up on the defrost panel and the dealership wants $400 to replace the "defective" piece!!! I called Cadillac Customer Service and with a claim number was offered $100 discount. So much for american made cars, because a "defect" of this nature would be resolved by BMW and/or Land Rover. cracked dash panel2.jpg

Wow $100? That's not bad really. The part is only $250.

The dealership was charging $298 for the part and another $100 to install it. I thought that was a bit steep when Cadillac acknowledges it's a "known issue". They've replaced the part at no charge for other owners, but tell me it's at the dealerships discretion to cover at no charge. For a 2008 vehicle that cost over $70k new, I was surprised Cadillac doesn't stand behind their product. Very disappointed and likely the last Cadillac we'll own this experience.

Re: Dash Cracking...has this happened to anyone?

Out of warranty is out of warranty. You have to understand that. It sucks that this happens, but it even happened on my 07 Yukon, and that wasn't a $70k vehicle.

Remember the Escalade came with a 5yr 100k warranty. This was GM's best offering on any of their lines to the best of my knowledge. Some folks had the crack come up while under warranty, and some after. Roll the dice.

GMPartsDirect has the panel in black for $250ish. Subtract a $100 and you are looking at $150. $150 for a part to last 7 years isn't all that bad.

I could also point out all the Ford Explorers out there with a cracked panel under the rear window. Ford didn't do anything about that either. I'm sure if I look hard enough I could find some common complaints about the BMW's too. Oh wait, all the 7 series top of the line cars spend more time in the shop then on the road.
