Climate Control Temperature Issue
hi, i have an 07 Escalade ESV and my climate control temperature has an issue. even if i put the temp setting to 76 hot air doesn't come from the vents. for some reason it doesn't want to heat up the car anymore. haven't tried the ac temps. is it my thermostat? if so how accessible is it to change it myself?
thanks

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
Heat usually comes from the floor vents unless you switch it off auto. Is the fan not blowing at all, making any noise?

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
Does the radiator have coolant in it?? I know, its an ignorant question but I had to ask. You might be surprised to hear that Ive seen this before. Someone was having issues with odd temp readings and the heater not working well during the winter.

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
we don't usually have it on auto. when you play with the fan speed it switches off auto.
yes the fan is blowing, everything sounds normal.
lemme go play around with it some more, maybe i missed something.
i will report back...
----------
i am assuming it does :-) lemme check

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
just checked again, no matter how high i set the temp, it does NOT blow hot air. could it be a thermostat issue? are there any fuses i can check?

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
just filled the coolant to the proper level. i don't think it changed anything.
i am assuming it is a thermostat issue. where is the thermostat located?

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
Are you asking about the engine thermostat? If your engine came up to normal operating temperature on your dash gauge, and didn't overheat or stay abnormally cool, then it isn't your engine thermostat. I could see it being a problem with the temperature sensor if you were using Auto, but if you aren't getting heat in manual control, I would look into the blend doors first, plugged heater core next. That's just my general approach, I haven't been inside my dash yet to know if it is different from other vehicles I've worked on.

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
how can i test for blend doors? order a new one and see if that takes care of problem? is it fairly easy access?
where is the heater core?
----------
just to clarify the temperature of the air that comes out of the vents is pretty much like room temp, not cold or hot even if the temp is set to 75-80F, could it still be the blend doors?

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
Sounds like you may have an issue with the temp actuators. If you set the passenger side to 90 degrees,do you get warm air? If you do, then the driver's temp actuator may be bad. You may have to have the truck scanned for codes in the hvac control module.

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
went shopping today and noticed something odd. when i started the car temp was set at 75F, after driving for a bit it was still blowing cool air. but when i increased the temp to 80F i felt warm air for about 5 min but then it started cooling down again. what's going on here?
i haven't tried your test yet

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
just tried your test, it seems to be working ALL AROUND at 90F. tried the passenger side first, it blew hot air at 90F continuous. then i tried 90F on both sides, and they both worked. as soon as i lowered the temp to 80F temp dropped and started blowing cool air again. HELP!

Re: Climate Control Temperature Issue
Each duct has a temp sensor, and one may be reading the incorrect temp or the in car temp sensor may not be reading the correct temp. The best thing is to have it scanned and have the parameters checked. It may be something simple as an in car temp sensor. If it thinks the truck is 90 degrees inside, it will try to cool the truck down inside. 90 degrees is a default to full heat, regardless of the temp inside. Are you in tri state?
