Congrats, Dranksum....Looks good, really updates the looks of a 2007....If you put flames on the Escy make sure you start by the side vents and over the roof to simulate a heated windshield washer fire! LOL. Hope it all went smoothly.

    Looks great dranksum!
Is the hood strip required or can the conversion be done without it? I've purchased all parts minus the hood strip and am wondering whether I can start without it. Will it be a simple fix later or do I have to wait?? Any info would be great!

Yes the hood chrome is Platinum specific as it's wider than the regular

The hood strip can be done later...the only effect is the the non Platinum hood strip does not line up with the front Platinum fascia creases and looks a little weird. Depending on the year of your hood and the strip mounting tabs you might have to drill and slot your existing hood to match the Platinum chrome strip mounting tabs when you get it. Make sure that if you do have to add additional mounting slots in your hood that you prime and paint the area around the tabs so they don't rust.

    ----------

I would estimate the cost at about 2G's or less depending on painting costs and extent of reusing existing hardware. I did mine well over a year ago and I think the cost has gone up since then. Add at least another 2G to do headlights unless they could be purchased used.

    Thanks waterking!

The conversion is all done except for the hood strip, which is on its way. I had my local body shop do the work and I don't feel very satisfied. The new front end just does not seem to line up well with the hood. The small gap between the hood and top grill seem off on each side. I don't know if it's me being super picky or it's really crooked. The paint also looks a bit dull. Out of all the body shops I've used I'm never completely satisfied, meaning I always find minor imperfections which really bother me. Is this a normal occurrence for body work or have I just been unlucky??

Re: 2007 front clip to platinum edition

There are many adjustments that can be made to the alignment but the major one is to the U shaped holder that the Styrofoam support slides into. If that is not right it is almost impossible to get the gap correct side to side. There is IMHO, too large a gap between the hood and bumper skin by design. Also the skin is often slightly distorted/twisted when initially received from GM and takes a while to settle out, then needs realignment. Gloss is almost certainly a lack of clear coat or post polishing which should wait until the paint fully cures. Depending on your color the addition of the flex element to the paint causes a very slight color shift from the body color. Was yours an assembly or assembled from parts? I ask because assembling the styroform support to the bumper is also critical to proper alignment and that can vary by almost a 1/4", which is why I recommend getting an assembly vice putting one together yourself. Even factory Escalades often have imperfections.

Re: 2007 front clip to platinum edition

Hey, can anyone tell me if you can order it already painted or do you have to get the assembly still painted? I called the dealer with the part number 25975452 and they told me that its only the facia and they couldnt find a full assembly with the facia, absorber, grills, fogs, lower deflector, and lower brackets. Any input would be appreciated.

or atleast a place where i can find parts cheaper. Here is a price list from my local dealer

    Front facia - $917
    Absorber - $184
    Upper grill - $894
    Lower grill - $405
    Lower deflector - $217
Lower facia brackets - $29 each
    Chrome hood stripe - $263
    Inner fender - $98 each

That sounds about right. The only way I know of getting it cheaper is buying a used front clip. They sale those but they need minor work...
