Re: 2007 Escalade ESV--Stalling/rough idle issues

It was closing time. The service advisor rode with me in the truck, noticed the problem and said he would get back with me after discussing with someone on their tech line. I waited til mid afternoon and didn't get a response from the dealer and called the customer care line. They were able to get a hold of the dealer at that time. Customer care said they talked to the SA and he told them what I already had said... witnessed rough idle and almost stalling after getting off highway but no codes came up. Customer care assigned a district specialist to the case and I should be getting a call today. Based on some of the threads here, I am a little skeptical about the specialist calling within 24 hours. I hope they prove me wrong. I just want it fixed. I can not make any family vacation, riding, or camping plans until this is fixed. What needs to happen is the dealer just needs to drive my truck for about 90 minutes on the highway with my trailer and the computer hooked up and then get off the highway ramp. It will die for sure. They need to drive it till the transmission temperature gets over 200+. I would imagine a code will be generated. Problem is I don't think the dealer wants to dedicate a tech to my truck on a drive that long. At least that is what I was told... "try to get it to act up and then bring it in right before".. which is what I did. The problem is trying to "time" it to die at the exact location of the dealer, etc. As I stated to the dealer, this is supposed to be the king of SUV's for towing. One of the main reasons I got it. If it can't tow an enclosed trailer with not even half the allotted towing capacity, then what is it good for? Love the vehicle. Just want to be able to use it for everything I need it for. AKA Sport Utility Vehicle. lol.

At the dealer today. They hooked up a fuel pressure gauge and service advisor took a trip with me. It idled rough after exiting the highway, fuel pressure stayed the same. No issues at all with fuel pressure. We are still at a loss. He did notive the rough idel and "almost" stalling and also noticed the gas pedal got hard. He indicated could be a vacuum issue. Technician indicated that the problem could be due to a sticky valve that only occurs when vehicle gets hot enough. He suggested using some type of cleaner to remove the carbon buildup. So still no real answers. Just occurs while we tow our trailer which is only 4k lbs.

Re: 2007 Escalade ESV--Stalling/rough idle issues

was there ever a solution to this problem?????? I also have a 2007 escalade higher mileage, 180,000, and experienced the same stalling problems this weekend while towing my bass boat to the river. VERY FRUSTRATING AS WE STALLED 6 TIMES!!! After the first stall we called a tow truck to pick us up assuming it was the fuel pump that needed to be replaced. When the tow truck arrived it started and we drove it to a shop where we replaced the fuel pump. We left for our trip after having the work done and the problem continued when we hit the desert as we would come to a stop sign or light it would stall. every time we could get it restarted after 30-60 minutes of cranking on it and pulling out and putting back in the fuel pump relay.

This made for a horrible trip and obviously now I don't have any confidence driving the vehicle. I have read all the posts on this forum and it seems nobody has found a solution to the problem?????? Can you help otherwise I will just sell this and buy something else!!!

Re: 2007 Escalade ESV--Stalling/rough idle issues

I have a 07- EXT and have same issues of
starting engine runs as if missing cyclinders and then corrects itself, some time works well.
Towing a travel trailer is another issue -display shows -Service Stabiletrack and Service Traction Control and this happens when going down hill and stay's on. will shutoff and happen again. Also check engine light comes on at times and shut's off.
So last week coming home towing travel trailer from NC to Ontario the display showed above and eng. light come on . Went to get off at service centre in On. the truck just died. Engine turned over and no start, after all truck was on ramp no one could get around had a tow truck come and pull us clear . Dropped trailer truck taken into a Cadillac dealer , truck started for them!!! They did a Driveabilty Diagnosis and codes p0328 -Knocksensor and p0011 - intake cam sensor performance -codes set all pass and work fine. Dealer could not find a problem. Drove home and still starting issue and display still showing.
This vehicle is unsafe on the road as it could die at any tie and not get out of way from being HIT !
How do I deal with a unsafe vehicle ? Guess I should hire a lawyer or dispose of it for a Toyota . or better yet a Ford.
I had engine rebuilt at 80km due to piston rings gone and blowing oil
Spending this kind of money for a nice truck has been a real disappointment to me- Wife calls it a Lemon Truck!!

Re: 2007 Escalade ESV--Stalling/rough idle issues

well -- i have just had my first experience of this issue -- have a 2007 ESV --that i bought with 40k miles on it and it now has 106k -- after driving for about 45minutes on the freeway it stalled at a light and wouldn't restart

it was turning over and showing full power -- i had replaced the battery the day before so i knew that power was not the issue -- lights were bright --it just felt like it wasn't getting gas

i even thought …hey, did i run out of gas? -- but when the car was trying to turn over it would show me the gauges and the gas gauge showed i had some gas -- not a lot but about 1/8th of a tank -- and i realized that hadn't yet gotten a "low gas" warning on my banner

so we flat bedded it to my shop -- i restore old cars -- and it was after 6 on a sunday so i wasn't going to the dealer with the car

later that night the guy who runs my shop -- an excellent mechanic in his own right -- texted me to say -- the car starts fine -- no problems

next day -- some thing -- they couldn't replicate the problem -- i had already been on here and read everything i could about this issue

we decided to take out the gas tank and replace the fuel pump -- we found that it was the original fuel pump -- and we think that 106k miles is a good run for a rule pump

they also think that the sending unit that is attached to the pump may have just started to go and that the car had less gas than it was reporting -- so that it should have told me i was out of gas but didn't

and they think that when the car got loaded on the flat bed that it was tipped up and down and that motion probably freed the gas a bit and sent gas through the lines which caused it to start

after replacing the pump -- wet urned the car on and it immediately chimed and said "low gas" -- so i filled it -- i am very nervous that this problem may be a ghost in the machine that i am just at the beginning of chasing

the throttle body and the relay (which is under the hood --not in or near the tank) are also both original to the car and the parts store did not have a relay in stock or i would have replaced it too -- we did do gas filter and even did the front brakes while we were at it

in fact i just replaced all 4 tires -- which are 22's and the battery -- so i have spent a fair amount on this car in the last week

i truly love this truck BUT my wife is getting nervous about its reliability -- we have 3 kids and she carpools all the time

that story of the 07 that stalled on the freeway and had to be backed down to exit the freeway is my nightmare

it sucks to feel nervous that your wife and kids are gonna get stuck somewhere with the car

anyone have any further insight ?

sadly the folks who were posting about these issues disappeared without fully finishing their tales -- well some did -- the one guy sold his truck but i am starting to think about replacing everything i can -- throttle body and relays etc.

my car has never had a rough idle issue -- so when it stalled on me -- it literally felt like it ran out of gas -- so i'm hoping that the pump and filter will fix this

    fingers tightly crossed

i also just had my interior guy look through the truck -- i am having him estimate how much to re-do all the seats and the carpet -- so i ma seriously considering spending deep money to make this truck gorgeous again -- my kids have turned a beige carpet brown in spots -- it cleans up ok but i'm a car freak and i love this truck -- i wanna spend the money on it

but i need to know that with over 100k in miles that i can still rely on it -- thoughts?

117k miles on my 07 and this just happened this morning. Now that I read thru all these posts I guess I'm prepared as much as I can bringing my my Escalade to the dealership this morning. My wife pulled up to a stop sign...stabilitrak light came on and the truck shut down. My dealership is excellent I'm just concerned as to how they are going to diagnose this.

Re: 2007 Escalade ESV--Stalling/rough idle issues

I personally don't think its the gas, I have a dual fuel system, Regular gas and I had it converted to run on CNG. With either of the gas, it will stall out after freeway driving. My ESV will stall when I come to a stop after I have driven 15-20 minutes on the freeway. I am going to get my oil changed and see if that helps out. I will report back tomorrow.

    Thanks

Changing the oil didn't fix anything. I think I am going to go with a lighter weight oil next time. I am going to have my camshaft actuator replaced. I also thought about getting the VVT disable so it doesn't advance the timing so far while on the freeway.

My 2000 Cadillac Escalade Stalls Once In Awhile.
I replaced the Cam Sensor and It Still Stalls Once In A While. I Brought It
To Another Mechanic, And He Replaced The Fuel Pump, The Fuel Filter,
The Fuel Relay Breaker, And..... A Small Plastic Wire Component
That Plugs Into The Fuel Pump. He Showed Me That The Wire Component
Was The Culprit Most Likely.Of The Four Wires, One Was Overheating,
    And A little Burned.

Re: 2007 Escalade ESV--Stalling/rough idle issues

Reporting back about this. After I got my oil changed I drove on the freeway and there was no change when pulling off the freeway and coming to a stop. It was still stalling. I had decided that I was going to change the camshaft actuator, there was a dealer kinda local to me (40 min) that had it in stock. As I was driving to pick up the actuator, I was thinking about the oil passages that run through the actuator. The reason it stalls is that the timing is advancing at higher speeds/RPM's and gets stuck there when you come to a stop. If your oil is not clean the passages get clogged, or if you don't have enough oil, you don't have the required oil pressure.

As I was driving, I was thinking that I am going to try and get the oil pressure up with this new clean oil and see if it will clean/clear the passages. The way I did this was, as I was getting on the freeway with no one in front of me, I gave it full throttle until I was going about 80 MPH (Speed limit is 75). Then just normal freeway driving speeds of about 35-40 minutes to pick up the part, as I exited off the freeway expecting it to stall and die. So when I came to a stop and to my surprise, it did not stall or give the hint of stalling!!

I picked up the camshaft actuator asking if it could be returned if I didn't open, just in case it was a fluke this one time of not stalling. So I drove home with the new camshaft actuator, this time driving like I would normally drive of getting on the freeway, exit the freeway and come to a complete stop, still running and not a hint of stalling out.

I honestly think this cleaned out the passages that support the camshaft actuator cause now I am not stalling after driving on the freeway.

I hope this helps, if it does or doesn't please let the community know. I will give another update in a week or so with how my truck is running.

What I did was I had my oil and filter changed with 5-30 full synthetic and then ran it at full throttle up to about 80 MPH, You could try the full throttle a couple time if you think you need to needs more then one session of opening it up and cause its fun.

    I have a 2007 ESV with a 6.2 liter and 147k miles on it.
