I am planning to change the shock absorbers, they seem not to function well, and I would like to know what is the difference between the shocks GM provides the zw7, z71, and the z55 and could I install any of them on the Escalade, and if there are other providers of better shocks what would you recommend for a 2007 Escalade?
Re: whta's the difference between zw7, z71, z55 shocks
I'm going to suggest you to go to arnottindustries.com (sp?)
You can either choose from remanned stock shocks or with a bilstein shock...
I would go with the bilstein since they make some high end performance stuff but I think from prior experience on any other car, the bilsteins will ride harder but more controlled (think sedan vs. sports car)
wow man! that's too much compaired to Bilstein and do they provide the same performance, don't know, but Bilstein only provides the rear suspension shocks any suggestions to the front shocks?
Re: whta's the difference between zw7, z71, z55 shocks
You will only find conversion kits for the front suspension, If you want to keep what your RPO code says you have, you will need to go the dealer to get replacements. You cannot find autoride (Z55) or Magneride (Z95) anywhere but the dealer. I just replaced mine, and purchased the rear air shocks from Arnott, and the fronts from GM. Arnott will take back your old shocks for 25 bucks a pop. I even returned my old Z55 shocks to Arnott even though I purchased the new ones from GM.
