Now i have seen some things on forums of people talking about adding a corsa exhaust- and some sort of chip to get better gas mileage... What are they talking about?? Do these things really work? Please let me know.. And how much do they run? Thanks |

I was shocked. I was lucky to hit 17.5 MPG highway with the 4WD Tahoe (in 2WD of course). I can regularly get 20.6 MPG highway with the AWD Lade. Around town, mileage is about the same for both. For me, having full time AWD AND 118 HP more than my old 5.3 PLUS better mileage sounds like a lie. Skeptics, I beat you to the punch. The 6.2 is a great engine. |

If gas is a problem for you, don't get it. It will be worse than your Tahoe, I can guarantee it. I average 11MPG in the city. And no, intake, exhaust, etc won't give you 20MPG. |

My cousin gets about 10-12 mpg around town with his 5.3 Avalanche, the truck works hard with that small engine, most of our EXT customers get at least that mileage.

No you can't.
I have had both, same driver, same routes, same driving conditions. My Lade MPG beats my Tahoe 5.3 on the highway hands down. Maybe I have an anomoly Lade, but point is, others on here, including long timers like HCVONE, can also regularly hit 20-21 MPG on the highway. The 5.3 does have to work hard to move the mass. Probably part of the same reasons why a Navigator, with far less power, gets worse highway mileage than a lade too. I can't believe that a Tahoe 5.3 versus an EXT would yield much different results, which is what the OP is comparing, right OP?
I am not arguing with you on City driving - both suck. I honestly don't know which one sucks more, the 5.3 or 6.2. When I meticulously track mileage, I do it on long trips - always done it that way. When I track city, it's no fun.
Also a note for disclosure: In both the Tahoe and the Lade, 3rd row seats removed, K&N drop-ins, smallest OEM wheels/tires, premium gas, Superchips/Preditor, driven conservatively. In other words, in both I tried to maximize MPG. |

I am most likely trading in the tahoe soon to get an ext.. so the chips are BS? im not too concerned about gas mileage I have always had SUV's but i was just trying to maximize the best mileage.. |

I get 10.5 around town.
I get 6.7 - 7.5 towing my 8000 lb trailer depending on speed (60-65mph range).
Ask me what I'd give to have GM's currently-shelved 4.5L Duramax Diesel in my Escalade.

I agree with you on the highway mileage, though. 6.2L does beat the 5.3L (non-afm that is). The 5.3L is a high revving engine, that is what kills the mileage. |

- Mark | Ford is supposed to come out with their 4.4L diesel engine in 2010. Put that in the Navigator, and I'll buy it. |
