Nav-xm unlock $5.00 and one hour

I completed this in my esv. In simple terms you install a switch in the VSS wire going to the radio. When the switch breaks the circuit all features are unlocked while driving with the exception of viewing the DVD. No more stopping to enter designation or POI or scrolling address book or going through XM Catagories.

I uploaded instructions how to do utilizing three different switch hook ups. It may seem hard due to my instructions, but I did it the hard way due to me being anal.

No side effects, no pushing unlock, or steering wheel buttons. It works!!!

Great instructions, but I know if I tried to do it I would mess things up! Does anyone know of a shop in the Houston, Tx area that could assist me?

In my Toyota the DVD would only play if the parking brake was on... is that true in the Cady? If so, there is probably a wire that's grounded (or opened) when the parking break is set. Simply "fixing" that wire should open up the DVD. I did this on my Toyota (grounded the wire at the radio) and now I can press PLAY on the DVD for my kids who are too young to use the remote. I also did the VSS trick on it.

The problem with the VSS trick, as noted in the instructions, is that you need to turn it off (or on depending on your point of view) else the GPS will do erratic things. A simple (for some of us) fix is to connect the button not to a relay but to a small microcontroller that says "turn on relay for 60 seconds" and then shuts it off for you. Then you don't have to worry about that (and if you are half done when it shuts off, press the button, again).

Oh the joys of technology... I just wish they would "unlock" this for us. They let you add presets to your radio or change the climate controls while driving, why not this stuff? I know, some attorney said so, but that's not a good reason
