DVD Audio problems

Remove this ad
I bought an 08 escalade esv in February and it came with the factory audio and six Disc DVD system (includes a Nav. system/screen up front and two drop down screens for the rear passengers).

My problem is that if I play a DVD recorded in two channel audio (vs. 5.1 channel), I cannot get any sound through the factory speakers. However, sound comes through just fine on the headphones. If I put the disc in a 2009 Esv on the lot, it plays just fine. The stereos appear identical.

I have had it to the dealer twice to try and fix an audio problem on the 6 disc dvd player. The first time, he put a "new" head unit in. I presume it was a re-manufactured unit. The second time they used their most current upgrade disc which added some additional options on the setup screen, but didn't fix the problem. That last trip was in March, where he stated it was a "software update problem", and expected a newer update disc "soon". That was over three months ago.

My questions:

1) anyone familiar with this problem and possible fix?

2) is it really a software problem? If so, does anyone know a dealer in the Chicago area that has the update disc to reprogram my stereo?

Thanks for any help.

Re: DVD Audio problems

Visit this site .... http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web

Put your vin in and select what you want .... it may ask for some specific info ... just pick something and fish around for a problem that looks like what you are having and print it out, take it to your dealer and tell them to FIX IT.
