I just bought a 2007 Escalade and i love the car, BUT..... it is very loud. I found out the previous owner changed the muffler to a flowmaster? I really know nothing about this. I'm just a girl who wants my car to be more quiet. All i want is less noise.
I called the dealer today and they told me its almost $900 to put in an original muffler and pipe. Thats way out of my budget. Does anyone know where I can get this part cheaper or does anyone have one for sale?????????????? Please help me.
Thanks!

I'm a mother of 2 babies and I got a GREAT deal on the car. My husband happens to love the loud exhaust. He will never let me change it if its a lot of money. Especially in this economy. Anyone else have something helpful for me. |

Jen, do you know if you have a full exhaust or just the muffler was replaced? If its flowmaster, Im guessing the previous owner most likely just replaced the muffler instead of doing a cat back. Take your car to a local muffler shop (Midas, Meineke, etc...) and let them look at it, if it was just the muffler that was replaced, just tell them you want a quiet muffler put in place of that one. Wont cost too much, and will be just what your looking for. Then sell the muffler or cat back if thats what it is on craigslist, and your good.
If your questioning if they are trying to rip you off, get a print out from them telling you what kind of muffler and any piping that they might need with the labor qoute and come back on here and post it...we will let you know if its a good deal or they are trying to screw you. |

I'll take your advice and keep you updated. Let's see what happens. Hopefully the new muffler won't wake up my babies like this one does! LOL. |

That way you can tell if the change back to stock is really is worth all that money. I've always thought that the stock exhaust sounded sort of loud for it being stock and everything so the difference may be huge or small.
Unfortunately you may have to live with it because the engine is afterall a 6.2 liter V-8 so it will naturally sound a bit loud when you crank it up. I don't know if they make mufflers or exhaust systems to make it quieter though. You may want to look into that.
Anyways, good luck and I hope you find a solution. Personally I love the nice rumble the truck produces when cranked up . |

| | Cadillac Owners Member Cadillac(s): Looking to buy | | | | | Re: 2007 Escalade Muffler You can easily go to a exhaust shop and have them weld in an OEM replacement for alot cheaper than the dealer. If not you can also get a imco type exhaust. They make exact OEM replacements. I replaced the exhaust on my 95 tahoe because I like how quiet it is when I go hunting. And there exhaust fit perfect to OEM standards. |

You may also want to look around for a Corsa Touring system or a stock system on E-Bay, you can find them cheap time to time.

All other advice, sans the undeserving snotty comment in post #2, seem reasonable too if you do actually discover that stock is much quieter and to your liking.
Good luck and welcome! |

Maybe watch the classifieds or post a wanted ad for somebody that changed out their factory. OR, you could post that you would trade somebody your Flowmaster setup for their factory if they paid to swap it over. This is all if they use the same style. |

Great advice to listen to the stock system first. Maybe somebody on the forum is thinking about an upgrade to a Corsa or other system and would have a stock system for sale at a reasonable price, hint hint. Good luck.

VERY few 09 Tahoes with the 6.2 were made since it became an option in 09. I personally have never seen one. They are only identifyable by their larger tailpipe. An 07+ Denali exhaust would work though. Good idea! |

I am located in SW michigan and you can have all my stock stuff for NC. its cut behind the resonator and then once more behind the muffler after the brackets so an exhaust shop could just weld the stock muffler back in for you...let me know | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
